Happy Earth Day! 🌎 These two right here 💙🩷 These are my WHY. These 2 amazing little people are why I started paying attention to what products come into my home and onto my body. Because I want their kids to still have more fish than plastic in the ocean 🐠 And I don’t want to pass on chemical body burden to future generations. I want them to be able to experience clean blue skies and green healthy plants 🪴 I want them and their kids and their kid’s kids to have an Earth to live on that is beautiful and alive. This is MY why. What’s yours? I’d love to learn who it is that you make changes for!

Happy Easter! 💜 Today we enjoyed church, family time, and made some special memories. We focused on the reason we celebrate Easter and I especially love my son’s drawing from kid’s class today (they gave them the paper and a cross cutout and he was supposed to make it be however he imagined it). Of course the bonus of treats, new books and a small gift made it even more exciting for them! 😅

I just want to take a moment to share my very favorite Christmas ornament of my daughter’s 2020 preschool photo 😅

🎄Do you put up an artificial or real tree?

🎨ART TIP FOR KIDS: If you have young kids that love to craft like I do and always ask to paint, you need to get some Kwik Stix! Seriously. They are one of the best kid art inventions ever! It’s tempera paint but in a solid stick form - incredible convenient, no mess and dries in about a minute! You can use them on paper, wood, cardboard, and more 🙌🏻 Both my 4 and 6 year old can use them without any assistance and there’s nothing to spill or refill, it’s awesome!

We had such a fun Halloween! It ended up calling for a ton of rain tonight so we switched gears and decided to try to trick-or-treat for a bit then have a little Halloween party 🎃 Picked up some snacks, Grandparents and a friend came over and after about an hour of being drizzled on (it was cold but ended up not being too bad!) we warmed up with hot cider, festive snacks, and some Halloween games 😊

My Gramma would have turned 83 yesterday but she left this world 3 weeks ago. I’ve been trying to find the words to write this and ironically I know my Gramma would have known just what to say. She was a single mom of 3 who became a self-taught journalist in a time when that was not something women did.

She was the first woman to earn a Pulitzer in Investigative Journalism (her second of 2 different nominations). The Senate Press Gallery in the Tallahassee FL Capitol Building is named after her. She mentored countless influential journalists and I’ve heard her described as an icon, indomitable, a force of nature, a titan, a trailblazer, a pillar in the State of Florida, and more.

She has interviewed people like Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Johnny Cash, Pope John Paul II, a few presidents and countless governors. As well as those whose names are not written in history books. The abused, the abandoned, the silenced…and gave them the same full attention and passion as the others.

She had the rare and distinct honor of having her memorial service held in the Chamber of the Florida House of Representatives in the State Capitol Building on Thursday (something that hasn’t happened before). The fact that they offered this to our family is a true testament to Gramma’s impact.

And that’s what I loved most about hearing all who shared - her impact. She told stories because someone needed to. And spoke up for those often overlooked in our world. She sought justice at any cost and never backed down (even after threats). She didn’t let her circumstances dictate the difference she could make and she exposed countless acts of corruption even well after her “retirement” (and second “retirement”).

You could fill a year’s worth of newspapers with stories of the countless lives she changed through her fearless tenacity. But to me she was “Gramma”. She You will be missed in more ways than you know Gramma. I’m so grateful I got to see you a few weeks ago. I found an unopened cat puzzle at your house last week and did it for you. I love you forever.

Feeling extra grateful for these 3 humans today 🥰 and that we got to spend an extended weekend together before we jump back into school craziness! 💙 Also, I need your help - which of the first 2 photos do you like better? 🤔 They’re similar but the expressions are slightly different and the lighting is different. Unfortunately you cannot depend on the EPA to protect us from cancer causing ingredients...a lot of it comes down to 💰💰💰

‼️ With the current plan, the EPA will test approximately 20 chemicals per YEAR. You read that right, YEAR.
So...that would take us 4,000 years to test for human safety all the current chemical substances on the marketplace 😨

A love note from my cucumbers 💚🥒 Do you have a garden? Any tricks to share? This year I started using fish fertilizer for the fish time and they seem to love it! I mainly do tomatoes and cucumbers and we have strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and a meyer lemon tree plus some herbs 🌿

🇺🇸 It’s Memorial Day, who are you remembering today? I’m thinking about my late grandfather whom I miss dearly. He served on 4 different destroyers in WWII - 1 sunk on D-Day & 2 others hobbled to nearby ports of safety. And my grandmother’s 3 brothers who all gave their lives before I had the chance to meet them ❤️🤍💙

I’ve always wanted to be a mom and I’m incredibly grateful that was also God’s plan for me ❤️ I grew up with truly the most amazing mom and it was only when I was older that I realized fully all she did for us and also that not everyone’s childhood was like mine. And then I was beyond blessed again to get a loving friend and bonus mom in my mother-in-law! 🥰 If today brings you joy, I am celebrating with you! Today was our school’s annual Vocabulary Parade! Everyone dresses up as the personification of a word and wears the word & definition 😄 the kids parade around the school so everyone can see. Cameron was enjoying being “wealthy” 😆 and I apparently own a lot of pattern stuff…I had a lot of options to choose from 😅 👇🏻What word would you choose?
