Eating together as a family can help improve eating habits, and save you time and money! Here are just a few benefits of finding time to cook and eat as a family:

-- Consistent family meal time, especially when eating healthy foods, can be a way to look forward to connecting as a family and looking forward to a delicious meal!
-- Helping to prepare the meal, or even side tasks such as setting the table, provides a useful and fun role for everyone!
-- Take-Out may be faster, but you'll hurt your pocketbook and your health if you make Take-Out a routine practice. Cooking at home can help you save costs, and reduce levels of fat, sodium, and sugar in your meals.
-- Cooking at home allows you to prepare a day or two ahead, which helps save time and helps use up the last of a batch of fruits or vegetables.

CHWs add value to Public Health settings by bringing a thorough understanding of their communities, providing a diversity of services to individuals and health systems, as well as engaging the root causes of poor health.

Community Health Workers can operate "Upstream," enhancing awareness and engagement of local health disparities by educating local leaders.

CHWs also provide a unique perspective by being accessible to individual community members, explaining health information, and exploring opportunities to sustain improved health.

New sculptures add a punch of color โ€” and safety โ€” to Billings streets 24/05/2024

Thanks for the great report, Billings Gazette!

Mobilize the MAGIC City "seeks to use art not only as a way of beautification but as a traffic control measure. The theory is that if you have a high volume traffic area you can use attention grabbing art โ€” things that are hot pink, for instance โ€” and itโ€™ll cause drivers to slow down. Remind people that theyโ€™re in a neighborhood . . . Both pieces are along the Billings Neighborhood Bikeway, which leads riders from North Park to Rose Park."

New sculptures add a punch of color โ€” and safety โ€” to Billings streets The pair simply explode with color โ€” prints of artwork made by local schoolchildren and wrapped in hot pink metal. Youโ€™re not going to miss them if you drive by.

Make sure improvements to your eating habits are focused on health-focused goals!

Here are some easy-to-follow tips courtesy of Eat Right:
- Restricted eating does not mean healthy eating. Stay away from "Fad Diets" that consistently or completely restrict certain foods.
- Support one great habit with another; Pairing increased, consistent physical activity with healthier eating habits can help sustain momentum on both fronts!
- Find yourself intimidated by new ingredients? Challenging yourself in the kitchen to integrate healthy ingredients into tasty meals can be your key to long-term success!

In April, Resilient Yellowstone Community Health Workers (CHW) and Healthy By Design staff attended the national CHW Sustainability Summit. The summit offered recipients of CDC's Community Health Workers for COVID Response and Resilient Communities the opportunity to showcase their work and strategize together about how to continue CHW programs. Several Resilient Yellowstone CHWs shared a poster presentation with fellow attendees on their impact in Yellowstone County.

In the coming months, Healthy By Design will collaborate with CHWs and site leaders to strategize how to effectively communicate CHW impact and foster sustainable CHW systems within Yellowstone County, focusing on non-clinical CHW roles and workforce development.
