Mother's boyfriend s***ks young daughter leaving heavy bruises.

Chatham county police were dispatched to Chatham County DFCS (761 Wheaton St) for a child abuse report that occurred on Soling Ave in unincorporated Chatham County.

Upon arrival police made contact with DFCS (complainant).

DFCS told officers they received a report from Screven County Hospital in reference to a juvenile that has since been taken into custody by DFCS. DFCS Case #18732136.

DFCS advised that the mother of her pr***en daughter was with her boyfriend Mr. Jalen Bowens in Screven County when they dropped off the child at a friends residence,

While at the friends residence, the parent of the other child observed bruising all over the juvenile’s thighs and buttocks area, so the friends parent called the girls father.

The girls father arrived and took his daughter to Screven County Hospital where the hospital called DFCS to file a report.

Police then made contact with the mother. She explained that a couple days prior to going to Screven County she requested her boyfriend Mr. Bowens discipline her daughter. She explained that she observed Mr. Bowens use an open hand to strike her buttocks area three times.

The mother advised that after he s***ked her daughter 3 times he stopped and advised her that he wasn’t going to s***k her anymore due to her not being his child.

The mother advised that Mr. Bowens watches her daughter on a normal basis but is never alone with her, always being accompanied by his aunt, mom or dad.

The mother also explained that Mr. Bowens is always the one who bathes and dresses her daughter while he is watching her.

Police said After speaking with the mother, they went and spoke with Mr. Bowens who was currently finishing up speaking with a DFCS employee.

When police asked Mr. Bowens to explain what was going on, he started off by explaining that he doesn’t discipline the girl because she isn’t his kid and has never hit her before.

Mr. Bowens advised that he can usually tell the girl to stop doing something and she listens.

Mr. Bowens explained that on this occasion, the mother asked him to discipline her. Mr. Bowens explained that he used a wooden back scratcher that was approximately 3 feet long to strike her within her buttocks region.

Mr. Bowens explained that due to the length of the back scratcher it may have struck other portions of her body around her thighs.

Mr. Bowens advised that he knew he hit her a little hard and observed that the area was red at the time.

While speaking with the representative from DFCS she provided photos of the girl that were sent from Screven County hospital.

The photos showed pretty serious bruising to multiple areas of the girls thighs and buttocks area.

The father of the child indicated he would like to press charges against the mothers boyfriend and he was taken into custody for CRUELTY TO CHILDREN – 1ST DEGREE – F.

DFCS has since released the girl to her father.

Highway 84 near Simmonds crossing is closed in both directions in Long county.

Power lines are across the highway that were brought down by a cement truck driving underneath.

Update: The road has reopened.
