What do you get when you enroll?

PERSONALIZED LEARNING PLAN
When it comes to learning, everyone is different. This is why it is important to adapt to each student's way of absorbing information, to maximize efficiency as well as keep the learner motivated.
Each lesson is personalized to the student, taking into account what they want to learn to play while incorporating music theory and essential concepts.

PATIENCE and ENCOURAGEMENT
Learning an instrument takes a lot of commitment, time and practice, which can be overwhelming for beginners. Reviewing previously learned material to gauge progress, focusing on goals and have a comprehensive plan to achieve them make a big difference in the student's ability to invest in their instrument long term.

MUSICAL APPROACH TO LEARNING
Most curriculum focus primarily on music theory and note reading, which can quickly overwhelm and demotivate younger students.
Ear training, song analysis, tablatures and other concepts allow the learner to approach subjects from a more musical perspective and develop curiosity for deeper learning.

A FREE LESSON
Learning an instrument is not for everyone, but how can you tell if it is the right thing for you?
This is why the first lesson is always free, so you get to find out for yourself, without the pressure of commitment.

Been working on this arrangement for a while and although still a bit rough, I'm quite happy with it! JS Bach: Cello Suite No. 1

MEET YOUR TEACHER!

This is Martin, husband and father of 3 kiddos.

He has been playing music since he was 8 years old and has enjoyed learning different instruments such as the saxophone, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar and drums.

He studied sound and light technology in Finland to become a theater technician and moved to Alaska in 2012.

He has been involved in music recordings as a sound engineer/producer with a few bands including Blackwater Railroad Company, Atz Kilcher, The Jangle Bees and Jacques Longpre.

When he is not teaching guitar, Martin spends his days homeschooling his children, hiking, climbing, kayaking, biking, gardening and cutting firewood.

Some of his favorite bands include Fleet Foxes, Trampled by Turtles, James Taylor, Joan Baez, Lord Huron, Ryan Adams and Tycho.

Now accepting new students!

It's never too early to start planning the school year, especially when it comes to extra curricular activities.

MUSICAL BENEFITS

Did you know that learning to play an instrument improves memory, perseverance, coordination, discipline, creativity and reduces stress?

ABOUT ME

My name is Martin, I have been a guitar instructor since 2015. I picked up my first instrument when i was 8, over 20 years ago.
Saxophone, electric/bass/acoustic guitar and drums are all instruments I have enjoyed playing over the years.
I love to share my passion with students, watching them learn and grow as musicians. We work on note and tablature reading, music theory, chord strumming and more, while learning to play all the classic songs.

CURRICULUM

The great thing about music is that there isn't a single way to learn, which allows me to incorporate songs and melodies the students enjoy in order to build a strong foundation based on personal interest.

LESSONS

All lessons are done online via Zoom. This allow me for better flexibility in schedule.
Using screen sharing and other media, I am able to convey the information with ease and fun.
All the student requires is a guitar, a computer, a good internet connection as well as headphones or external speakers for better sound quality.
For beginners, I am happy to help them find an instrument that fit their budget and size.
Learning an instrument takes a lot of focus, which is why I limit lessons to 30 min weekly or biweekly.

PRICING

Individual lessons are $35 per 30 min.
For siblings with a similar skill level, I offer group lessons at $45 per 30 min for 2.
