South Beloit Police Dept
Welcome to the South Beloit Police Department page.
We would like to address an issue that seems to be happening more frequently in our town. There has been an uptick in activity involving people shooting Orbeez guns at other people and at animals in our city park as well as in some neighborhoods.
Ladies and gentlemen, many of these guns look real and can easily be mistaken as a lethal firearm. It is our biggest fear that someone is going to get seriously injured or killed.
We urge you to please not allow your children to leave the home with one of these guns or any other look-alike weapon.
Our city ordinance is posted below and will be strictly enforced.
We want all of our residents and guests to feel safe in our town and at our park. We hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer.

⚠️ POTENTIAL RUSE BURGLARY ALERT ⚠️
The Dixon Police Department responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Tee Street at 4:55 p.m. today.
The homeowner reports a Hispanic male entered the home and tried to get the residents to go to the rear of the residence. The Hispanic male claimed they were doing work in the area and cut a sewer line. As the Hispanic male was walking through the house, a second Hispanic male began walking up to the front door wearing a blue banadana over his face. The males ended up leaving without further incident.
The males left in the white pickup truck seen in the picture. It is noted that there was a third Hispanic male in the truck.
We are further investigating the incident. We remind residents not to allow people into their homes. Legitimate City of Dixon employees doing work will have city clothing and city vehicles. If you have someone at your door and are unsure, don’t hesitate to call us at (815)288-4411 so we can make contact with the individual(s). If someone tries entering your home, call 911 immediately.
We ask that anyone with additional information regarding today’s incident please contact us.

On 10/6/2023 Sgt. Sanders and Officer West had the opportunity to go to Willowbrook School to train ALICE to their staff. Prairie Hill School staff along with Willowbrook attended the training. The South Beloit Fire Department South Beloit also attended and conducted a training on "Stop the bleed" and basic first aid.
The videos in the post are different tactics used to survive an encounter with an active shooter/threat. The staff did great.
ALICE training allows teachers to learn what options they have in an active shooter/threat event. The educators did a phenomenal job and hopefully learned and feel more comfortable if a situation in the future were to arise. This was a large class and it went extremely well. Our department thanks the school district for allowing us to teach these lifesaving classes to them.
Remember, if you have a business or organization that would like this training, reach out to our department. We conduct these trainings throughout the community to several companies, churches, schools and organizations to keep out community safe.
