I’ve really come to look forward to our impromptu shoots before shows.

Another Pride in the books! I wanted to wish everyone out there a happy Pride month and share a few shots from . Crazy that this my my third year photographing this fantastic event.

The wonderful folks .209 were kind enough to let and I do a photoshoot in their store last Sunday and I wanted to give them a big thanks and a shout out ❤️

Here’s a little blurb about the store:
“We’re a latina owned collective of local artists, makers, and curated vintage resellers! all of our vendors are women, q***r, or bipoc owned & our goal is to create the cutest third space in Merced for all to enjoy :) (open daily, noon to six)”

It’s always such a joy to photograph aerialists. Back in August I had the opportunity to photograph the show: “Inter-dimensional Metamorphosis of a Goldfish.” Groups like remind me of how many ways there are for people to find their own tribe through purpose and creativity.

Happy belated birthday !!!

I’ve been so proud and lucky to be able to get to know and photograph this wonderful human.

Something you may not know about me is that I do most of my own car maintenance 🚗. I spent my Saturday afternoon/evening changing the oil and transmission fluid along with all the filters and wanted to give a short PSA.

Some vehicles like my wife’s Elantra here - say that their transmission never needs to be serviced under normal operating conditions.

I am here to tell you that is a lie, the fluid in the second picture is dark brown transmission fluid. Fresh t-fluid is cherry red 🍒, think pomegranate torani syrup and this despite what the manufacturer’s manual said - very much needed changing. This is not the first vehicle I’ve worked on that this was the case.

Until some radical changes occur your car will need at least some transmission fluid changes and oil changes at max of 7500 miles throughout its life.

(Yes 10k mile oil changes are probably BS too)

This is - who the mere thought of renders me utterly verklempt … seriously I’ve been writing deleting and rewriting this blurb for an hour 😅.

This is Babraham Lincoln of the Gettysburg Undress - “Americas smallest national treasure”. I’m so proud to say that I’ve had the opportunity to photograph this person a few times and she never fails to be just so damn effortlessly cool.

I might try to share some more shots from her soon if I can get them past the instagram - crop goblin.

I take ALOT of of pictures and that makes it easy to forget or not “see” some shots. When shared this shot with her boa I had to share it as well plus a bonus floor shot.

My therapist keeps telling me I should share more … so here’s a picture of the ghoulish from Burlesque Blowout.

If you’re looking to see more of you can find them haunting the stage of February 10th for the My Bloody Valentine show.

Once upon a time I worked a show where was on stage photographing an entire troupe one person at a time with a mobile rig. I was super impressed and knew I had to try it myself (especially when I saw the results).
It’s been a bit more than two years later and here is a sampling of my first real outings results with a mobile on stage flash setup. Overall I’m happy with the results, I’m walking a fine line of seeing room for improvement and liking what I managed to create.

Thanks for letting me borrow your stage pre show, thank you to the folks who stepped up for shots and thank you for the inspiration.

It’s going to be interesting to see where things go from here.

Frank absolutely loves trying to get my camera, pictured in this series is his latest attempt to eat my R6 lens first.
