92-aastasena lahkus igavikku pastor GEORG LANBERG, kes oli Eesti Metodisti Kirikus venekeelse töö rajaja.
23. märtsil 1930. aastal eestlaste perre sündinud Georg elas oma lapsepõlve Venemaal. Pereisa lasti 1938. aastal „riigireeturiks“ tituleeritult maha. Imekombel õnnestus ülejäänud perel Eestisse sõita. Georg õppis Tallinnas Merekoolis, kust ta vahetult enne lõpetamist oma pere tausta tõttu välja arvati. Lapsena palju õudust oma elus näinuna ja suurt ülekohut oma elus kogenuna ei näinud Georg muud võimalust kui oma elu lõpetada. Katse ebaõnnestus. Tädi kutse peale läks Georg kirikusse ning ta elus toimus pöörde. Südamesse rahu ning ellu mõtte saanuna sai temast aktiivne kiriku liige. Vaatamata Merekoolist kaasa antud negatiivsele iseloomustusele töötas Georg valdava oma elust juhtivatel kohtadel ja tippspetsialistina nii kaevanduses, ministeeriumis kui ka juveelitehases.
1953. aastal abiellus Georg Jekaterinaga. Neil sĂĽndis viis last: Georg, Elvira, Liilia, Marika ja Veronika. Neil on 12 lapselast ning 16 lapselapselast.
1955. aastal astusid Georg ja Jekaterina Tallinna metodisti kiriku liikmeteks. Mõlemad olid muusikalembesed inimesed ning hakkasid laulma koguduse segakooris ja ansamblis. Georg hakkas tõlkima eestikeelseid laule vene keelde. Üha rohkem vene keelt kõnelevaid inimesi hakkas jumalateenistusi külastama. Georgi eestvedamisel alustati 1957. aasta veebruaris Tallinna metodisti koguduses venekeelsete jumalateenistustega. Georg Lanbergist sai vene koguduse esimene pastor ning ta juhtis kogudust peaaegu 50 aastat.
