4: Knowing local phone numbers can drastically reduce response times in case of an emergency. Whether you are working your local downtown or traveling, research and save first responders information to your cell phone as a precaution.

February is American Heart Month. This is a time for us all to spread awareness of heart-related health issues that millions of Americans face every year. The slogan for Heart Month is “Do your part, care for your heart”. Three ways that you can help spread awareness are education, awareness, and action.

Education: Knowing the risk factors. The top three risk factors for heart disease are high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking.
Awareness: According to the CDC, someone in the USA has a heart attack every 40 seconds. Being aware of the signs of a heart attack may help increase the chance of survival by seeking appropriate medical attention as soon as possible. Indicators of a heart attack include chest pain or discomfort; shortness of breath; pain or discomfort in the jaw, neck, back, or shoulder; or feeling nauseous, light-headed, or unusually tired.
Action: A few ways to keep your heart healthy are to eat healthy, exercise, drink alcohol only in moderation, and manage your stress.
