MAJOR COMPLAINT: Patient came in with muscle spasms that were all over her upper back lower back even legs.
She initially had a slipped disc at C6 C7 just from having brushed her teeth. Then from protecting her neck, she ended up tearing her right rotator cuff. She had been receiving physical therapy, cortizone shots and not much help. After her last cortizoneshot is when she started to notice muscle spasms that were not only in her neck but started going down her whole back.

SOULTION: The muscles in the front of the neck was super tight. I did trigger release acupuncture to release the infraspinatus, scapula, trap, after the release she immediately felt her neck relax and her shoulder was instanly more mobile. We did cupping to release fascia which was to help the muscle spasm, and then acupuncture to strengthen her channels of weakness to support energy and blood to heal her neck and shoulders.

AFTER TREATMENT: She was so relaxed and feeling so good! Her muscle spasms had stopped and her flexibility was incredible.

SIDE NOTE: She is a returning client after 7 years I had not seen her. Her initial visit with me was 8 years ago when her doctor told her she was unable to get pregnant. After one treatment she was pregnant! And now she has a 7 year old son! She was about to get a nerve block for her neck pain when she was reminded that she can get acupuncture for pain instead of that horrendous hyperdermic needle!

MAJOR COMPLAINT: JR couldn’t breath a full breath. He got sick a few weeks ago and his head, face, nose, ears, were ALL stuffed. He was miserable! We worked on immune points and a week later I see him and he head is doing amazing. But he noticed he was unable to breath a full breath. He told me he tried to inhale 3 seconds in and exhale 5 seconds out like I always tell him to do, but he was barely able to do that.

SOULUTION: I did cupping on his upper back, down the serratus, and lower back. I proceded to do cupping on his front to open up the diaphram where the lower portion of the lungs would be. That is when he said, “I was never the same after my gall bladder surgery”. I kept a note of that for added points to our acupuncture treatments.

AFTER TREATMENT: After cupping and Acupunture he went from 70% to 95%! After acupuncture I asked him to take another deep breath and to tell me what he felt. He said he felt the air actually went INTO his lungs instead of to his stomach.

Traumatic Brain Injury Causes Intestinal Damage 04/10/2019

This research suggests that TBI (Tramatic Brain Injury) may trigger a vicious cycle, in which brain injury causes gut dysfunction, which then has the potential to worsen the brain inflammation and tissue loss after TBI

“Researchers have known for years that TBI (Tramatic Brain Injury) has significant effects on the gastrointestinal tract, but until now, scientists have not recognized that brain trauma can make the colon more permeable, potentially allowing allow harmful microbes to migrate from the intestine to other areas of the body, causing infection.. People are 12 times more likely to die from blood poisoning after TBI, which is often caused by bacteria, and 2.5 times more likely to die of a digestive system problem, compared with those without such injury.”

What does Western Medicine do in this case?

I can tell you that Chinese Medicine can help reduce inflammation in the brain, as well as in the gut! Now we help the whole body heal, because that is what we are about at Eastern Medical Center.

Study: Family Physicians Who Learn Acupuncture Prescribe Fewer Opioids

February 21, 2019 04:18 pm
How are some family physicians treating one of the
biggest public health problems of the past 25 years?
With a form of healing that has been practiced for
millennia.
Since the mid-1990s, the opioid epidemic has resulted
in the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans

and created an economic burden that, according to some estimates, now totals more than $78 billion per year.

In response, family physicians and other health care
professionals are using every tool at their disposal to
fight the epidemic, including what some consider a
promising -- albeit surprising -- therapeutic protocol.

Of course the preference is to find an acupuncturist who has spent their education solely focused on and super passionate about acupuncture and Chinese Medicine versus a doctor or other health profession who took a weekend course on some magical points- there is so much more than just the points!

MAIN COMPLAINT: Patient is a 50 year old account manager, loves her job but always on the computer. Since last year December 2018 her hands started going numb. One evening her hands had a horrible throbbing pain to them. Since then, they were numb all the time. All her fingers. She has recieved PT, and was diagnosed with carpal tunnel. At night she has to wear a brace to keep her wrists from moving, she still doesn’t sleep due to the pain. During the day when I see her, her arms and hands are swollen, hot to the touch and super painful.

SOULUTION: Started to release the cervical plexus, allowing the circulation from the neck to the arms and hands to open up, as they were very tight. Then opening up all the energy channels in the arms and hands, circulation was helping to reduce all the pain and inflammation. Continued to clear circulation in the whole body so as to quicken the the body’s ability to detox all her inflammation.

AFTER TREATMENT: After each session she was improving each time and each visit she was noticing releif. Eleven sessions later she is no longer having numbness in her hands and arms. She is able to drive and type with full feeling. Her arms and hands are no longer swelling. She is also sleeping better and has much more energy and joy in her life again!

If you know anyone suffering pain in the hands, wrists, or arms, we at Eastern Medical Center can help!

5 Stars Yelp Review!!

“My first experience with Acupuncture was performed at Eastern Medical center. I dealt with chest tightness and decided to give it try. During my treatment I had no expectations and within 10m I fell asleep. Later I was awaken and felt so rejuvenated that I imagined a flower blossoming (sounds cheesey but that's what I felt haha). I recommend going out on a whim and trying it, hopefully in the process you discover a method that works for you as Acupuncture did for me. “ D. G.

5 Star Yelp Review!
"I am so grateful to have found Eastern Medical. After a recent car accident, nothing seemed to help relieve me from the pain. Desperate and frustrated with traditional medicine, I made an appt with Jax for acupuncture. Jax was wonderful in explaining the treatments and how it works. After only 2 sessions I began feeling some relief. Jax is so kind and caring as is the entire staff at the front desk. Jax then suggested I see Clinton for Body Work (deep sports massage) and OMG, that was the cherry on top. Clinton knows what's he's doing and always finds the trouble points in the body. I feel lighter and happier when I leave. Combining these two treatments jump started my healing and I'm happy to say that I'm on the road to recovery thanks to Jax and Clinton! I am now telling everyone about this wonderful place that feels like heaven. You are greeted with water sounds and music during your treatment and it feels like I'm at a spa. They take most insurance so if you have acupuncture coverage, you'd be giving your body a great gift."

Eastern Medical Center's founder- Dr. Mason Shen 1945-2007

Today is the 12th Anniversary of my dad’s passing. My dad passed away on 2/27/07 at 2:30pm at Valley Memorial Hospital in Pleasanton, California.

"Dr. Mason Shen's dream had been to make Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine in America as powerful as Western Medicine, and to combine the two forces since the 1980s. Unknown to most, he has fought for our rights as patients to be able to see an acupuncturist without the referral of a medical doctor. In 1992 Dr. Shen suffered a serious stroke which paralyzed his right side. Only after a short period of recovery, he remarkably exerted himself back to the course of his successful career as a doctor and an advocate of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Dr. Mason Shen continued to treat numerous patients at the Eastern Medical Center, Pleasanton, until his passing, leaving a legacy for his daughter, Teresa Shen, who has also decided to pursue a career in the healing art of acupuncture."

I love him so much..... He has been, and always will be the biggest hero of my life. I am going to continue his work in acupuncture and healing... he is my inspiration for everything.

Yelp 5 star rating 2/20/2019 Thank you!

Amazing! If you are considering any of the services Eastern Medical Center has to offer- go. I have spent years going to different doctors and specialists, physical therapy, massage therapy, the list goes on...I have an autoimmune disease and a lot of inflammation, especially in my back/shoulder/neck areas. I decided to try acupuncture and thankfully found Eastern Medical Center during my search. I had my first appointment with Dr. Shen and it was a wonderful experience. The office is clean and the whole staff goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you need. I've been seeing Dr. Jax for a couple of months now. He is wonderful! He is knowledgeable, kind, and talented. I've never had such relief from anything else like I've found through acupuncture. I look forward to my appointments! I am also thankful that they have evening and weekend hours, and you can schedule online which is great for a tight schedule. I highly recommend them!

"Update: I have been seeing Dr Eric Wei Wang lately and my quality of life and body has improved so much. I am not in pain all the time like I was. My body is repairing and I am having fewer flareups. In turn my depression has gone away with the pain. Being in pain all the time messes with you physically, mentally and emotionally. I am so grateful for the treatment provided. I waited too long to discover this. I have been to other places and have not had these results. He truly has a gift. In fact they all do at this location. Some people may not try this because they don't like needles, but they are so small and you rarely ever feel them. When you do it is nothing, and that means that area is stagnant/blocked. After the release you feel so much better. The cupping is also great, especially when combined with the other treatment. I still highly recommend the doctors at Eastern Medical Center. ==================================== Best Place, Best Staff, Best Medical Providers, Best Treatment. They really care about your well being above all and are miracle workers. I found this place by asking a customer in a nail salon where she got her cupping done, because I saw her cupping circles. Since then I have been going for acupuncture, cupping and release therapy. I go in in pain and come out painless. They have many other services. I highly recommend. I enjoy sharing the best of the best. "

A few weeks ago before Christmas, I had a client come in, COnSUMED by anxiety. She was on her own time and money hosting a Christmas party for kids who do not get Christmases. One thing happened where it was not how she planned it. She was then thrown into pure anxiety, heart palpitations, sleeplessness, non-stop negative thinking.

We opened up her heart channel so that her heart is flooded with tons of heart energy, it calms the heart and mind, connecting herself back to her own life energy instead of giving it away to external forces.

She came out crying of relief and feeling connected to herself again. Because she found her purpose again. In turn, her heart palpitations, sleeplessness and anxiety ceased.

Get your life force energy strong again.

“Over 25 years ago I was in a serious motorcycle accident. My left arm was paralyzed and I had to learn to live my life with one arm. As time went by I got used to just using my right arm never thinking anything could happen to it just doing regular daily activities. I would lift weights, lift boxes using my arm and my body, mow lawns and do just about everything a person with two arms could do. It did take longer and I would have to figure out how I would get things done with one arm, but I was able to adjust my body and live life as normal as possible. The wear and tear of using just using one arm brings injuries you don’t think would happen.
In 2011, I tore my rotator cuff and was basically trying to live without having any arms. I only had one arm that could work so I rushed my healing. I went to a physical therapist for a couple months and that helped me get some motion back, but I was still in pain. My wife was seeing Dr Shen for some back injuries and suggested I see her. I was a little skeptical about getting acupuncture, so I chose to have acupressure done. That helped relieve some of the pain, but I did not see Dr Shen consistently and just learned to live with the pain.
In 2016, I tore my rotator cuff again. I was put back to the same predicament as I was when I tore my rotator cuff in 2011. I was again stuck living without any arms as I was when I tore my rotator cuff in 2011. After the operation I did the same as earlier. I went to physical therapy, then went and saw Dr Shen for more acupressure and again I wasn’t consistent seeing Dr Shen, even though she was bringing relief to the pain. Again I went on dealing with the pain myself. I just went back living with the pain and using pain killers when needed.
In 2018, I tore my rotator cuff again. I had an MRI done and my Dr told me it was just a small tear and it would be easily repaired. When she went in my shoulder and performed microscopic surgery. She found the tendon to my bicep was shredded and the muscle was ready to fall off the tendon, so the small tear in my rotator cuff became a major surgery. She repaired my tendon and the rotator cuff and I started physical therapy again. I was seeing my therapist twice a week for three months. My therapist taught me how to give my arm motion and began giving exercises to strengthen my shoulder. My therapy consisted of having my shoulder moved around with the therapist applying pressure to my shoulder and trying to get my shoulder to lay flat against the table I was on, having me on my side and make adjustments to my shoulder in that position and a number of other exercises. After every session my shoulder hurt all day and I would take a Norco to ease the pain. I saw another doctor after the three months of therapy. I told the doctor the problem I was having with physical therapy and she told me to stop my therapy and start taking muscle relaxers, because the therapy was only causing pain, Norco was disguising the pain and if I began taking muscle relaxers that would allow the muscles to be relaxed and help it heal by not putting stress on my shoulder. The muscle relaxers did not work and I felt helpless until one day I thought of Dr Shen and decided to make an appointment to see her.
I told Dr Shen that I was living with pain that was more extreme then my previous operations and that I could barely use my arm. It hurt swinging back and forth when I walked, I could barely pick up things that weighed five pounds and I could not do any physical activities. My first appointment I made was for acupuncture not acupressure. I was still skeptical, but I thought there wasn’t anything else I could do. I thought all they did was put pins in pressure points to heal the problem, but I was naïve and didn’t realize there was so much more to acupuncture. Dr Shen began poking my shoulder and back with pins and put cups over the area where she poked the holes in me. The cups were like suction cups that pulled the skin up and drew out old blood and letting fresh blood begin to flow through my body. A couple of

other cups were pulling out air bubbles in to the cups and she told me that was arthritis. When she was done eighty percent of the pain was gone. I was able to lift my arm straight up in front of me and straight up from the side. I swung my arm as if I was walking and was pain free. I was amazed and fortunate to know an acupuncturist that I knew and could trust.
My next step is to exercise my arm and shoulder to build up my strength, which I would not be able to if I did not see Dr Shen. She brought serious relief to the pain I was in. Physical therapy gave me ways to build up my muscles, but I would not be able to do that without the treatment I received from Dr Shen. People believe only or your regular doctor or a specialist they refer you to can heal an injury or other medical problems, but if you live in constant pain or any other illness sometimes to step out of the normal procedures and look at other options can help. I found that acupuncture is real and after all the pain and discomfort I’ve been through choosing acupuncture was the right choice.”

Tennis Elbow.... No Problem!

Another 5 Star Yelp Review for That!

This place is amazing! Dr. Teresa Shen is so warm and caring about your health. She is so experienced and knowledgeable about the body and how it's all connected and has helped me tremendously with so many different things that have gone wrong with me. Acupuncture works because it is precise and targets exactly where your pain is without drugs. I have gone to physical therapist, Drs, and massage without relief but she has helped my persistant tennis elbow pain I have suffered with everyday for years. It is completely gone. I also suffered from intense neck and upper back pain and she has also relieved that pain, it is gone now. Han also gives an amazing acupressure massage to help the process along. I got tired of being told that all I could do was mask the pain and there was no way for it to completely go away or get healed. I continue to recommend Eastern Medical Center for anyone that has pain or diseases so Dr. Shen can help them too.

MAIN COMPLAINT: 45 year old female came in with painful swollen left index finger that has been going on for one month. She has difficulty moving it and can only bend it 15 degrees because it is so fat and swollen. Instead of better over time, it has gotten worse. The doctors did not know what was going on, it wasn’t rheumatoid so they didn’t know what to do and gave her a steroid shot. Did not help.

SOULUTION:
I started out releasing tight fascia around her finger and wrist, then proceeded to use acupuncture to get better flow of oxygen, ATP and therefore energy into those swollen cells to activate her body’s healing response. While in the treatment room receiving acupuncture I asked her to move her finger again. She was able to bend it all the way down immediately! The shock on her face was priceless!

NOTE: Western Medicine is great emergency medicine, however its not great preventative medicine. They can’t always tell you have something when you are only ‘on your way’ there. And if they can, then there isn’t much they can do to help you get out of it. With Western Medicine, only when you get to the point when it is now an official disease or diagnosis can they give you medicine/surgery to stop the immediate effects.

The best way to stay vibrant, healthy and young is to be active in prevention!! Let us help you!

Main Complaint: He has had stomach reflux for 10 years. Its just his natural state. And he knows that if he eats bad it only gets worse, so no pizza, and no coffee, forget alcohol. He also has very bad allergies.

Solution: Initially I gave him herbs that help his digestion. Upon further inspection, he revealed that he had had epstein barr when he was little and was bed-ridden for months. His immune system had been compromised! We did treatment to strengthen his immune system.

After Treatment: He stopped having acid reflux for the first time in 10 years! He is absolutely amazed! He already has his wife coming in, and now his kids!
