This year, the UD Chorale received several gold medals in the World Choir Games in New Zealand, resulting in their current ranking as the Interkultur #1 Choir in the World. With a history of artistic excellence both in the U.S. and abroad, the UD Chorale is a 44-voice choir made up of passionate undergraduate and graduate musicians from across the university.

Their journey has taken them to the international stage, where they have won awards in Estonia, Spain, Hungary, and Germany. From being Choir-in-Residence for the Delaware Choral Academy in France, to joining international tours, their commitment to choral artistry continues to grow. Get tickets to see them now!

Meet world-class pianist Howard Watkins. Howard is a frequent associate of some of the world’s leading musicians on the concert stage and an assistant conductor at the famed Metropolitan Opera. Dr. Watkins returns to UD for his fourth appearance, having recently concluded a vocal recital tour alongside soprano Renée Fleming in early February 2024.

Joel Alarcon has performed internationally throughout Central America, Brazil, and China performing with many notable groups and artists. He is an Adjunct Violin Instructor at Cecil College, and Violin Instructor at St. Mary Anne’s string studio and Director of Music at Saint Mary Anne’s Episcopal Church. Come see Joel perform at the Blue Stage Alumni concert on June 3!

Laura Yawney currently holds the English Horn/Oboe position in the United States Coast Guard Band. Previously, she was a Civic Orchestra of Chicago Fellow and Principal Oboe of the Endless Mountain Music Festival. She has performed with ensembles such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Illinois Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Bay Atlantic Symphony, Pennsylvania Philharmonic, Symphony in C, and Reláche, a long-standing Philadelphia chamber ensemble specializing in new music. Justin M Chou nourishes his love of music by serving on the Advisory Council for the Master Players Concert Series as well as performing as Concertmaster for the Southern Delaware Orchestra (SODELO). Outside of music, Justin enjoys a career leading teams in Marketing for TD Bank in both the US and Canada, and is an avid cyclist, chess player, and watch collector. Pianist Hyunsoo Kim currently serves as a collaborative pianist at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Encore Chamber Music Institute where he is also the admissions director. He was a member of the Collaborative Piano Staff at the Cleveland Institute of Music and Kent State University. He also served as a studio pianist for Itzhak Perlman at the Perlman Music Program during the Sarasota Residency. Come see Hyunsoo perform at the Blue Stage Alumni concert on June 3!
