It is with great sadness that we are in search of a new home for us and our small family of well behaved animals. Preferably in Hāna but open to other communities on island as well.

We literally received the news yesterday just as we stepped off a plane after nearly 3 months in Michigan to care for my father that just passed from a grueling battle with cancer. A can not think of poorer nor crueler timing. Just as I have returned home to heal the most traumatic experience of my life, I haven’t even begun to grieve this tremendous loss

We were informed that our property privately sold and we have 45 days to vacate. A timeline that is nearly impossible in our small community.

We are asking all of you to please refer, offer and keep your ear to the ground for any available rentals that would keep our family in tact. We will not part from our animals.

I know it’s difficult out there for so many and after having lived here for 13 years, we have built an Ohana here. We established businesses and have excellent references. We are quiet, tidy and hardworking. We would be down for a caretaking position as well.

We are devastated that if we cannot find something soon we will have to leave just as so many have before us so some greedy buyer can own their third property on Maui. We know we belong here, much more than they do but unfortunately for us after so much devastation of this last decade, our pockets aren’t as deep. Hoping for a miracle!

Turning another year older in a year where it’s felt like I’ve aged ten years.
Still, I am grateful to be here. Especially today, surrounded by my family, the people I love the most.

Hoping 2024 will be more prosperous, a little more joyful and a hell of a lot more loving and kind.

I can’t believe this…we are living in a nightmare. Lahaina is gone, so many other areas still burn. This photo is the view of a Kihei burning taken by my who is safe in upcountry….for now. This wind hasn’t stopped and we have a long road of recovery ahead. I can’t believe this. Please keep Maui and Big Island in your hearts and minds. There’s a king road ahead…

There’s nothing better than having someone that loves you unconditionally. Someone that is by your side for the most important moments in your life. Someone that has your back no matter what. Someone that you tell your hopes and dreams to. Someone that champions for you to receive the best that life has offer. Someone that loves with you, laughs with you, listens to you and supports you through it all. And when you find that person, don’t ever let them go.

Today, I make another year. I don’t feel any older, don’t look my age, my bones feel even older at times but I’m happy I’m here. When I look back on the life I’ve led, I feel so grateful that it has been one filled with so many experiences, adventures, beauty, encounters, friendship, laughter and love.
Every year I hope to have even more to be thankful for, more love to give and receive. There is still so much to do, to see and share. Each day is a blessing so we must live it as such.

I love moments like this. Pure joy..these cuties, having the time of their life on Uncle and Auntie’s big day. All eyes were on them as they twirled and giggled all day long. They were having the most fun

When we are young our cousins are our best friends. And when don’t live in the same place and you haven’t seen them in months, you know you’re gonna party🎉

Sometimes people come into your life and it seems like they have always been there. They understand you in a way that not everyone does and accepts all of you despite all the flaw as you see in yourself.
My girl, is a true friend. Strong, smart, talented and so very skilled in the most obscure things you would never think of, lol. She made the most beautiful bride when she married her love and is hopefully living it up for her Birthday today on her honeymoon. So cheers 🥂 to you Niki, Pop a bottle 🍾 friend...life just keeps getting better!

Day 7 of Covid positive and I am still feeling the effects. It’s been a rough week starting with the chills and continuing with fatigue and a flare up of an ongoing eye issue I’ve had for years. The worst part is the tedium and the boredom that comes with being stuck at home. Especially today, we should be in Seattle getting ready to see our faves and put on a killer show instead of falling asleep for the third time today. Luckily, we were able to cash in on the insurance and apply the funds toward another show in September...so hello antibodies, you better not f**k me on that date, or imma be real pi**ed!

The thing I love most about weddings is that no two are the same. Of course they’re different because each couple is different. But my favorite is when when a couple throws out the self imposed “rule book” and create a day that is just for them. And only them. While some traditions remain the same, you can do it however you want, just like Marcela and Jeffrey. They eloped in style...to the max!

I was thrilled to help them see out their vision of a day of luxury for just the two of them. Starting with a romantic ceremony bathed in exquisite florals by the insanely talented and ending with a gourmet, five course dinner from . Everyday is Earth Day...especially when you are in Hāna where Mother Earth has provided for us in abundance. Far removed from greedy developers trying to change and profit for their own means. Hāna will always remain as it was meant to be. That is what makes it so special, it’s what makes it so beautiful and pure.

Happy Anniversary to these two lovebirds. Not only did these two hire us to help with their wedding, they are dear friends to us. From weekly watch ( ), to outdoor movie nights, Halloween parties, grinding down , sharing feral Charlie dog, and seeing them blossom as parents to their sweet baby girl, Devon and Justis are one of my favorite couples of all time. When I started off in the event business it was as a cater waiter in Lake Tahoe. We worked at some of the most beautiful lakefront estates with incredible, chef’s kitchens. Ones that we never once worked in, our team instead would set up a satellite outdoor kitchen. Which was great until it was time to wash the dishes...
Let me tell you, freezing cold, alpine fed, hose water is not ideal. But it was tolerable until we got to the cake plates..cold water just makes that buttercream float right to the top. Good thing the rental company washes the dishes upon return, cuz pretty sure we didn’t do so good a job. Even after the horror of that process, I’d never turn down a slice. I just make sure to not leave any frosting behind.

Creating bouquets is a meditative state for me. Harvesting the blooms, looking for the perfect stem to be the star like this gorgeous torch ginger, is me in my element. Out in nature, hunting and gathering each little piece to bring a little more beauty to the world. Even if it’s in a small handheld bundle for one special bride.

Today I start a new year. One in which I hope is full of love, prosperity, adventure and wonder. I feel blessed to have lived this life. To have the freedom to carve my own path, to have had the support of my family and friends to do so. To have been encouraged to be creative and dream big. To have been given a future that has endless possibilities. I’m lucky.

This last week has especially shone a light on that fact. My hometown of Oxford Michigan suffered the greatest tragedy a community should ever have to go through. And while I have not lived there in a very long time, it is where I go when I go home. My dad and step mother still live there as do many of my friends that I walked the halls of the high school with. Their children are now Wildcats and they were deeply hurt. Their lives were forever affected by the evil actions of a deeply disturbed individual. Their futures forever altered.
And while Oxford may be remembered for this incident, it does not define them. For Tate, Madison, Hāna and Justin...they are and they will live on!

Wow, the first part of the year is already half over! And what a wonderful last month we had celebrating love. Last week’s wedding for Jona & Napa was full of love, laughter and color. A total coincidence to have scheduled their wedding during Pride month 🏳️‍🌈 and in the Rainbow State 🌈. We said what the hell, and leaned into those vibrant primary colors that we often see bless our skies.
We celebrate love in all forms all year round. So even thought Pride month is about to be over, we can and should always embrace love no matter how it’s expressed.

stepfather and of course my Daddy-O, Ed Rod ❤️ I wouldn’t have been able to live the life I was do, chose the path I have and chase after my dreams without his constant love and presence in my life. Cheers to the men and other father figures out there helping to raise good humans that do good things...we love you!

Happy Mother’s Day to all you fierce, funny, fearless, fabulous females and/or any gendered souls that nurture, love and care for humans, animals and nature. There wouldn’t be a world without mothers leading the way, making sure we stay alive and thrive. Not all of them are good, some are past or gone. I’m lucky to have always had mine...supporting me, loving me, teaching me, and guiding me to become a strong, outspoken, kind and thoughtful person that I am today and continue to be.
