Waitlists for therapists and mental health practitioners in my area are weeks long. Having a certified coach might be a great interim solution if not the right solution to get you on track.

Changing your diet could add up to 13 years to your life, study says — CNN Switching from a typical Westernized diet of red meat and processed foods can add up to 13 years to your life if you start at age 20, but even people in their 60s can add years.
Fascinating idea. What are your thoughts?

We’ve Got Depression All Wrong. It’s Trying to Save Us. New theories recognize depression as part of a biological survival strategy.

If dropping a few pounds is your goal, try focusing on adding more nutrient-dense foods to your diet over cutting calories. That means bringing in lots of proteins and healthy fats.
If you still need support, let’s have some conversation. DM me.
“You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.
Your goal is your desired outcome. Your system is the collection of daily habits that will get you there.
This year, spend less time focusing on outcomes and more time focusing on the habits that precede the results.”

Give it a try…
The tricky thing about balance is that it differs for everyone. There is no exact formula that everyone must follow in order to find the balance they need. It’s really just about tuning into your body and listening to what needs aren’t being met in your life and where you are hurting yourself by engaging in an extreme.

Hello Friends. I hope you thoroughly enjoyed your holiday. If you’re anything like me, you probably enjoyed a few indulgences and might be wondering how to get back on track?
Believe me, I have not lost 106 lbs by beating myself up for enjoying a few calorie dense meals!
Here is my 5 step go-to for recalibrating.
1. Mindset
If your head isn’t “in the game” ask yourself what’s going on? It may help to revisit the motivating factors that helped you get started on a healthier path to begin with.
2. Probiotics
These will help reset your gut health and aid in digesting those indulgent food choices.
A healthy gut includes healthy bacteria to keep that digestive track clean and clear. I take one daily with my multi-vitamin regimen.
3. Hydrate
Water really is your best friend here. It will also help with digestion and help you to recalibrate your fullness meter. Indulgent foods tend to be heavy which can throw off our sensation of satiety.
When I need to reset my intake, I aim for 8 ounces of water 30 minutes before my meals.
4. Move Yo Self
I cannot support punishing workouts to “make up for” or “burn off” extra calories. While “yes”, movement is a good option to get back on track, the body is not an enemy. Neither are calories for that matter.
Move in ways you enjoy, dance, go for a walk in nature. Heck, park in the last parking spot in the row at the grocery store! The fun part about movement, everything counts.
5. Load up that plate…
Punishment for indulgent eating used to look like skipping meals for me. Luckily, when we know better, we do better.
Now I recalibrate my diet by loading up on veggies. The greener the better.
Try a spinach omelet for breakfast, a green smoothie versus that mid morning latte. A veggie soup for lunch, and include a side salad with dinner. All easy ways to get those veggies in throughout the day versus eating one huge salad.
To your healthier self!

When considering adding in more health promoting food choices, it is often said to “eat a rainbow”, here’s a simple infographic on what that means for the body—generally speaking.

How do you ensure your self care routines are fully fueling your spirits?
And, how do you know when to apply self care, or do you simply reach a level of “energetic dehydration” before tending to your needs?

I’ll share in the comments.
Let it be easy… by making it easy beforehand.
I frequently encourage my clients to “set themselves up for success”; to do the things that allow successful outcomes to be inevitable.
In other words, to “design their environment”.
——-
It’s “back to school time”. I can remember so many mornings when my kids were younger that we fretted about being late while searching for missing shoes.
Then the idea came to me to have my kids put their shoes (and backpacks) by the door the night before. This alleviated that last minute hunt when it was time to leave. Yay, for lower stress mornings!
This is what I mean by “design your environment”.
✨✨✨
Let’s say increasing your water intake is a target of yours, would it be helpful to have a measured water bottle filled and ready to go as you start your day?
“Designing your environment” might mean filling your water bottle the night before and maybe placing it next to where you keep your car keys or somewhere you’re unlikely to forget it.
——
What about a target to increase your movement, could it be helpful to keep a gym bag in your vehicle or to place your running shoes by your door?
✨✨✨✨✨
How might you let your successes be easy, inevitable even; What needs to happen for you to “design your environment”?

There’s a popular misconception about comfort zones being a bad place to be, and I disagree, to a point.
I would say, “comfort zones are a bad place to stay”, namely because nothing new is realized there.
But consider this. For many of us, achieving a place of comfort with something, or perhaps proficiency, is a goal for many of us when we start something new.
To take a minute to appreciate and celebrate our achievements is a good thing. In that framework, a comfort zone might then be like a “point of interest” on the journey of life.
A place to stop and look around, appreciate how far we’ve come, and make a plan for what’s next…

Do you suffer from “shelf-help”?
This is where you buy “self improvement” books that you haven’t read, haven’t finished, or haven’t used beyond “that’s a good idea”. It sits on the shelf.
I’ll go so far as to expand this to include signing up for classes, workshops, masterminds, summits, events, etc,
but you don’t go, don’t complete, or ever really revisit teachings shared within them if you do go.
So what is it that inspires us to make a change, but then when a pathway opens up, we don’t take it?
Let’s explore. Share your thoughts below…
I could not have gone from this version of me (beige shirt, circa 2017) to this version of me (LBD, circa 2021) without some serious commitment to self-care.
On this SELF-CARE SUNDAY, what’s your “go to” for taking care of you?
Note: Weight loss may not be in your version of “healthier you” and that is great, truly! There are so many paths to wellness.
But, I do hope whatever a “healthier you” looks like for you, that you are incorporating some regular self-care routines. Share your favorites below.
3 Big Truths About Significant Weight Loss
1) Cravings may change but they don’t go away.
2) Smaller sized clothing includes foundations, jewelry, and shoes.
3) Some days you may still feel like a “busted can of biscuits” and clothing doesn’t seem to fit comfortably.
What is the difference between desire and expectation?
Today’s mantra:
“NEW MOMENT, FRESH MOMENT”
Translated means for me that “whatever my previous experience has been, how ever similar the current circumstance may appear, this is not that experience”.
This in turn generates an invitation to be present and open to what ever the new moment may reveal, all without anticipation or expectation, but with real curiosity and wonder.
Feels better already.
I hope you do too.
To your health!
