Excited to see those who are able to join us for tomorrow's (Monday) Meet and Greet from 2 - 3pm on the field. See the map below for a general idea of where you will find teachers gathered. Signs will be posted as well.

Last year, we were fortunate to partner with the Massachusetts Safe Routes to School Program to ensure our arrival and dismissal procedures are safe and efficient for students, staff, and families.

Note: What they refer to as "Family Drop Off" we call Kiss and Ride (at arrival) and Parent Pick Up (at dismissal)

Bus routes have been posted. See Northeast's routes below.

To determine which bus your child is assigned to, locate the bus stop closest to your home address. If you need help with this, reach out to the school.

As a reminder, students may only take the bus they are assigned - not to a family member's, babysitter's, or friend's house, for example. If you have a first or second grader, please keep their red bus tag on their backpack! More information about bus riding etiquette will be shared during the first week of school :)

If your child is eligible to take a bus, but you have other dismissal plans, notify your child's teacher ASAP so we have an accurate list for Day One. This applies to all students - even if it is the same as last year.

Families - Keep checking back on https://www.walthampublicschools.org/page/transportation-services for updated bus routes and bus stops.

As a reminder, students may only ride on the bus they are assigned, and that assignment is based on home address.

If your child(ren) will not be utilizing the bus as a dismissal method, you should be sharing that information with their teacher and Mrs. Marriott.

We aim to minimize confusion on the first days of school and appreciate as much communication from you regarding dismissal as possible!

This communication will be shared via email to the email address that you have on file in Aspen.

If you do not receive an email...
~ Check your spam folder
~ Check if another email address linked to Aspen received it (the other parent/guardian/emergency contact)
~ You may have changed your email address and not updated us or changed it in Aspen
~ You may not be finished with the Registration process and your child is waiting to be "cleared." Only fully registered families will receive the email.

Again, this does NOT apply to to incoming PreK and Kindergarten families. PreK families were notified of their teacher assignment via snail mail. Kindergarten placements are determined after Kindergarten Screening takes place.

Our 5th Grade Ambassadors have planned 💛Spirit Days💙 for the coming week to bring some fun and spirit into March at Northeast :) We are VERY excited to see what Friday brings!! 👩‍🏫👨‍🏫

If you are sending Valentines to school with your child this week, do not send in candy or food of any kind.

Unfortunately, any Valentines sent in that involve food or candy cannot be distributed. Also, make sure your child has one for every child in the class.

Reminders: All guests will enter through the gymnasium doors and remain in the gym. Entrance to the first concert will begin at 9:15am. Entrance to the second concert will begin after the conclusion of the first concert. Parking at the school lot is for staff only. See attached for more information.

Northeast's Back to School Night is Thursday, September 21st from 6-7:30pm. See attached fliers for more information!

Tomorrow we welcome 70 Kindergarteners and many PreK friends to Northeast! Parents received an email with their child's class placement. If you did not receive one, email Miss McAvoy at [email protected].

About tomorrow:
~ Kindergarten teachers will be waiting in the front of the building to meet their students. Once Grades 1 - 5 enter, Kindergarten lines will walk in the building. This is a first day of school only practice. After tomorrow, Kindergarteners enter the building and walk to their classrooms like the other grades.

~ Goodbyes happen outside of the building - parents do not walk down to classrooms with children. If your child arrives on the bus, extra teachers will be helping them off the bus and escorting them to their teacher.

~ There will be plenty of staff available in the morning to help with all teary-eyed friends (children and adults!) and it will be an AWESOME first day.

~ Remember, there is NO PARKING in the school lot. If you plan to bring your child to school, you must park on Warwick Ave, Doty St, or in the Pick Up Lane and walk up. Parking in the lot is for staff only, and our SRO helps enforce this.

~ ***Some children may have a more difficult morning than others. All feelings are okay! In our experience, a short, sweet goodbye is the best strategy. Hug, kiss, a "Have a great day!," and reassure your child you'll see them as soon as school is over.
Children take their cue from their adults - If you're calm, positive, and excited it'll help them feel that way too! Pro tip: Wear sunglasses 🙂
