📢 Update on East Ridge Police Officer 📢
EAST RIDGE, TN (July 2, 2024) – Chief Clint Uselton of the East Ridge Police Department reported that on the evening of July 1, 2024, ERPD Officer Alan Resendiz was struck by a vehicle fleeing from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Officer Resendiz was attempting to deploy spike strips in an effort to stop the fleeing vehicle when Ta’Bious Tezmon Wheat, 22, from Clarksville, TN, swerved across multiple lanes and struck Officer Resendiz at an extremely high rate of speed. Mr. Wheat continued to flee south on I-75 into the state of Georgia while officers on the scene quickly began trauma care on Officer Resendiz.
Mr. Wheat was ultimately taken into custody in Whitfield County and is awaiting extradition back to the State of Tennessee. Officer Resendiz was transported by EMS with serious injuries. Officer Resendiz is currently stable although facing months of recovery. THP is conducting the investigation and is the primary agency responsible for criminal prosecution.
The East Ridge Police Department cannot begin to express their appreciation to the Chattanooga Police Department, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol for their assistance in this matter. The East Ridge Fire Department and Hamilton County EMS provided exemplary care for their injured officer and are to be commended for their efforts. The East Ridge Police Department would also like to thank the Georgia law enforcement agencies responsible for taking Mr. Wheat into custody.

The longer a felon evades capture, the greater the risk of casualties. It is important to note that manual Tire Deflation Devices (TDDs) depend on HOPE. There is HOPE that the pursuit will lead to areas with enough protection for the officers to deploy and retract the manual system. If not, the felon's escape is prolonged and the danger is increased.

On August 25, 2023 Pyramid Lake Tribal Police Officer and former Storey County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Francone was killed in the line of duty attempting to stop a fleeing suspect.
Anthony Francone served the residents of Storey County for over a decade in the rank of Deputy and Corporal. During that time, Anthony was recognized and awarded for his bravery, his duty to protect the public, and his fellow officers.
While with the Storey County Sheriff's Office, Anthony was the number one traffic enforcement officer. Anthony was also the agency’s primary RADAR instructor, lead accident investigator, and field training officer. Anthony's humor was definitely one of his greatest qualities and he always had a way of making people laugh regardless of the situation.
Anthony loved his family and was very proud to be a law enforcement officer.
Please join our Deputies, Sheriff Cullen, and Storey County in offering our condolences to Anthony's family, the Pyramid Lake Tribal Police, and all of his friends, including those in both law enforcement and fire service.

Recently had a great conversation over the power of El Rey del Mundo ci**rs, Guinness, and product ideation with Brad Courtney and company. I mentioned that is how the (SQUID) concepts that spawned the Night Hawk and ArrestNet were developed.

This week is National Police Week!
💙💙💙
This week we celebrate all who currently serve for the sacrifices that they make every day for our community and take time to remember and honor our nation’s fallen law enforcement officers.
To begin our National Police Week we would like to take time to remember and honor our nation’s fallen law enforcement. In 1962, May 15th was proclaimed as National Peace Officers Memorial Day by President Kennedy.
Every year, the National Law Enforcement Officers organize a Memorial Service to honor police officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. To bring this day closer to home, today Sgt. Rick Lopez was represented by YCSO Deputies at the nation’s capital at the National Fallen Officers Memorial Ceremony.
May we honor and remember the sacrifice of our servant brothers and sisters who have laid down their lives for another. May we never forget their sacrifice and honor them with how we serve.
