8 May 2021, Virtual Rural Parish Mission Retreat
Friendship with God and Grace, Love, and Divinization

PAONIA, COLOARDO: On 8 May 2021, The Flame of Love Movement, US, partnered with Halo Haven Ministries and Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Paonia, Colorado, to conduct a virtual Flame of Love parish mission in support of rural parishes and missions in Delta County Colorado. The effort began as a result of a St. Thomas Aquinas Society Conference conducted in August 2020 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Sharon, a Halo Haven Ministries Trustee found herself listening to Father James Blount about the Flame of Love, although she went to the session expecting to hear another speaker about another topic. This happened to her, not once, but twice; which Sharon could not ignore.

After the conference, Sharon returned to the Western Slope of Colorado with a desire to bring someone to speak on the Flame of Love to her rural region. The first attempt to bring a speaker faced logistical and COVID-19 restriction obstacles which almost resulted in abandonment of the effort. As conversations continued, Sharon's husband suggested the possibility of a virtual event by which to bring the Flame of Love message to rural communities. Halo Haven Ministries engaged to coordinate with Delta County parishes and missions to conduct a virtual retreat while representatives of the United States Flame of Love movement coordinated speakers and connections from New York and Philadelphia.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Paonia, Colorado, provided a meeting hall which allowed for social distancing between households for those who desired a group experience. Attendees were also given interactive options to attend remotely from home as a further protective measure for those in high risk groups. The Host of Armor of Faith Radio, a division of Halo Haven Ministries, served as the moderator for those attending from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church meeting hall.

An Overview of Salvation (John Sullivan and Father Davis)
Reconciliation and Friendship with God (Monsignor Chieffo)
The role of Grace in the plan of salvation (John Sullivan)
Regina Coeli (Father Davis)
The Flame of Love as the devotion of Grace (John Sullivan)
Flame of Love Cenacles (Eileen Piergiovanni and John Sullivan)

The feedback from attendees was very appreciative of both the message presented and the time of the speakers to bring the Flame of Love to a rural community such as Delta County. Those who live in rural communities often find they must travel to major cities if they are to receive the spiritual nourishment of similar events. Virtual technology provides an exciting potential to evangelize beyond the conferences and retreats conducted in the cities.

“This event was a pilot of sorts,” said the host of Armor of Faith Radio. He continued, “We pray we have the opportunity to open the door to more events, such as this one, in service of rural communities. Of course, while technology may expand the reach of our good shepherds, we must continue to pray God will increase their number and enable them to spread the good news of His salvation and the blessings of the Flame of Love to all the children of our Heavenly Father's creation.”
