Wallflower Woodcrafts
Custom signs and woodcrafts. We accept custom orders and will recreate any that you see on this site.
We are set up in the square for Urbana's Second Saturday and Art Affair in the Square. There are lots of vendors and food trucks.
A custom order from last weekend's Second Saturday event. James had the idea and we made it. Thanks for the order James.
A few projects we have been working on for this weekend's Second Saturday in Urbana.
You can actually see the sign in this photo.
Excited to unveil our very first business sign, crafted for Our Kitchen Window Winery & Home Goods! Designed to catch your eye as you stroll down the sidewalk.
Wrapping up a few final projects for Second Saturday in Urbana tomorrow. It looks like it is going to be a great day. Come see us in front of the Methodist Church.
We are working on some eclipse inspired items for this weekend's Second Saturday in Urbana.
We are getting ready for Urbana's Second Saturday in April with hand painted bookmarks. This will be the weekend before the eclipse. We are still working on some more designs, but please let us know in the comments if you like these designs or if there is something else you would like to see.
The Cat Palace is finished. What a fun project.
Antique stool repair. I enjoyed adding a little more life to this piece of a friend's family heritage.
This stool was previously repaired with a polyurethane adhesive such as Gorilla Glue. This type of glue is great for many projects, but not for furniture repair because it tends to expand and separate the wood pieces rather than forming a secure bond.
I love this quote.
"While you don't have to strive for absolute perfection, sometimes it's worth taking a little bit more time and effort to make something you're really proud of." -Tom Scott
23 inch tall Sparky. I couldn't find a good graphic of our school mascot so I had to redraw him. As you can probably tell, we are very proud of our school district. If you happen to come by the Urbana High School office you might get to see this guy dressed up for the season.
I made three, so if anyone is interested, they are $50 each.
This is one of the types of projects that I really enjoy doing. I was able to take the customer's idea for a meaningful retirement plaque and make it a reality.
No. That is not a PokeBall. It is Porsche's Weissach Test Track in Germany. I had to trace the track from an old advertisement in order to carve the design. I am happy how the black paint makes the maple pop.
Let me know if you need any personalized or custom wood crafts made.
Not an original idea, but I redesigned it to look better with walnut and paint.
Life sized 3D printed hands. Not my normal type of project, but I like being able to make unique items.
Of course she cried when she opened this. It's our wedding vows. I think it turned out pretty good.
Monogram Sign. This was one of those projects where we were asked, "can you make something like this?" And of course the answer is something like, "I don't know. Let me find out."
If you have ever been to the Dragonfly Vineyard in Urbana then you know what wonderful people Kent and Connie are. This was our gift to them for their friendship.
One of our neighbors is a bee keeper and his wife wanted to give a unique gift for his birthday. It was great working with her to design something that she was happy to give him.
Not an original design, but I am still happy how it turned out.
This was a great project to work on. I was asked to make three copies of signs that were proudly displayed at the Urbana Country Club before they expanded to 18 holes.
I love working on custom projects.
Wedding Sign, 24x24.
National Park Service Inspired Camping Sign
Although we made this one for us, a sign like this makes a great gift for the camper or outdoor people in your life and can be customized with their family name, location and state. Each piece is custom engraved and hand-painted. The clear finish gives this sign a very classic look!
We make custom, made to order engraved wood signs. We can also detail them with paint or stain as requested. If you have an idea you would like for a sign let us know and we will work to create a mock-up for you. Pricing may vary based on size, shape, and the type of wood.
This sign measures 18" H x 12" L x 1.875" thick and is made from a solid piece of hickory. It is sealed with spar polyurethane for light weatherproofing.
Check out Don's latest work. He always impresses me.
Family Growth Chart.
Because the board was longer than my CNC, I had to tile the project into two cuts. The ruler was cut with 1/8th inch end mill and I used a v carve bit for the family name. I then sealed the wood, painted, sanded and then gave it two coats of polyurethane to protect the wood. I cut two keyhole slots in the back, one on top and one on bottom, to make it easy to hang up.
I am pretty happy how this turned out. It was exciting to make something that will be used for many years by such a wonderful family.
