Ohio Department of Public Safety Director Andy Wilson today announced the hiring of an anti-human trafficking professional to coordinate the efforts of the Governor's Human Trafficking Task Force, as well as the hiring of a Special Population Anti-Trafficking Specialist.
Kelli Cary returns to Ohio after serving for about two years as CEO of AncoraTN, which combats human trafficking in central Tennessee. Previously in Ohio, Cary served the human trafficking community in jobs at RAHAB Ministries, the Hope & Healing Survivor Resource Center, and the Salvation Army.
Kathy Chen, a Special Population Anti-Trafficking Specialist, who works with local human trafficking task forces and law enforcement agencies to disrupt illicit massage businesses. Oftentimes, these organizations are a front to promote and engage in human trafficking.
Since her start in January, Chen has been re-establishing her previous relationships with local task forces and resource providers. The key to prosecuting these crimes is law enforcement, victim services, and culturally specific services working together as a team.
In 2023, the FAA received more than 13,000 reports of laser strikes. This is both dangerous and illegal. The is reminding the public to keep their laser pointers out of the sky to protect pilots and to avoid hefty fines and potential prison time. https://ow.ly/NgSN50Sz0lC

Attention, Parents โ this is important for you to know. U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Federal Trade Commission have issued an alert regarding cannabis products containing Delta 8 THC that are in packaging that appeal to children. The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control urges parents to take steps to ensure children do not obtain these dangerous, unregulated and untested products. The FDA and FTC sent a cease-and-desist letter yesterday to five companies that have packaging like the ones shown, stating they must stop marketing these products to young children.

As part of National Deflection Week, all 88 counties on Ohio are participating in BRIDGE Days on July 17-18. Local events focus on community outreach and building relationships between law enforcement and the community. It is Rural Road Safety Awareness Week! On average, about 65,000 crashes happen on rural roads in Ohio each year. That accounts for 25 percent of all crashes in the state.
Anything that involves using, holding, or supporting a device while driving is โจoff limitsโจ. That means no texting, scrolling the internet, social media, games, etc. Hint: if it involves using your phone, you shouldnโt do it while driving. Thatโs the law.
