It means that adding more nutritionally dense foods with the joy bringing foods is how you'll find sustainable success with your health and nutrition goals, particularly weight loss. Instead of feeling deprived and ultimately over consuming, leading to yo-yoing weight, you'll feel satisfied and able to keep on course. What's worse is that the fixation on healthy eating can change your relationship with food, and could lead to eating disorders. Well intended nutrition goals are great, but an unhealthy obsession leading to anxious reactions around food, or giving yourself emotional consequences and fear of disease is another thing entirely. This is called orthorexia nervosa, and it's very real, as are binge eating disorders. And if you weren't already aware, poor stress management is as important to overall well-being as nutrition. There's an irony here... So have that salad for lunch and a cookie for a snack, or go out for that burger but eat veggies and hummus in the afternoon.
