Woven Bee Baskets and Brooms
A place where I can share all my loves: weaving, broom making, and honey bees.
This basket was designed for picking up seashells on the beach. The sand falls through the holes, back onto the beach and not in your house. Being from the Midwest, I see this as the perfect morel basket. Come see it and others tomorrow from 10-3 Pat's Plants (mushrooms not included)
Thanks The Kentuckiana Herb Society for such a great day!
All set up and very excited to be at the Herb Society meeting.
Excited to be headed to Huber’s Orchard & Winery next Saturday for The Kentuckiana Herb Society Education Day.
Last one for the retreat and another rib basket. Learned lots of new techniques and definitely need some more guided practice but happy with my first attempt. The little wings on the handle will be clipped off. Just need to add some glue first.
This beauty took me all day but wow what a cool design. Appropriately named The Labyrinth. Dani Sue Creations.
Tonight’s project. Very interesting shape and design.
First basket of the day and first ribbed basket ever also. Really fun and learned a lot.
Favorite time of year!
Very excited to be vending at this event. The Kentuckiana Herb Society
Come see me tomorrow in Bloomington.
We are here in the greenhouse at Pat's Plants from 10-5 in Orleans.
Don’t forget, you can come hang out with me and some other amazing artists at two very cool locations this weekend.
Weaving with a different medium tonight. How about some woven fabric stars ⭐️. Fun little project and these will be headed to Pat's Plants next Saturday.
Working on building my herd of woven reindeer. You can get your own December 2nd Pat's Plants.
Thanks everyone who came out yesterday to shop!
Perfect weather for weaving on my deck. This functional yet gorgeous basket will be heading to Orleans this Saturday. Come see me 8-2 at the Orleans Elementary School for the Orange County Homegrown Holiday Market. 637 E Washington St, Orleans, IN 47452
Likely, the last set of towels off the loom before holiday show season. Now onto scarfs!
In addition to finding my my handmade baskets and woven items at Lost River Market & Deli, Bloomington Farm Stop Collective, and Leahy's Greenhouse LLC, I will also be attending a couple area shows. Be sure to shop local this holiday season!
I’m inspired by the desert southwest with this color way.
How gorgeous are these towels with this Scandinavian tote! Check them out at Bloomington Farm Stop Collective formerly Rose Hill Farm Stop. Same great store just a new name. Restocked with a variety of towels.
Trying to get outside my color comfort zone and I love it!
When you can’t make twill towels because you’re waiting on a yarn delivery, what’s a girl to do. Well, you make a twill basket of course.
Fresh off the loom. These colors remind me of sea glass.
Back at the loom for some lovely towels.
I try not to keep to many baskets but there are a couple I will have forever. One is this harvest basket I made several years ago. It is a go to for blueberry picking.
A very patient friend has been waiting for these placemats for a very long time. Finally getting them going. Love the happy colors. Geriann Albers.
Thanks Pat's Plants and everyone who came out today! Couldn’t make it out today? I have moved several items to Lost River Market & Deli where I will be the featured artist for May.
All set up and already got a box of plants to take home. Pat's Plants 10-2. The Dogwood Festival parade starts at 2 in Orleans so we will likely close at 2.
Hope everyone can come see me tomorrow from 10-3 at Pat's Plants.
Let me introduce myself for those new folks. My name is Sandy. I am originally from Missouri but have lived in Indiana for about 10 years now. I currently live outside of Bedford but lived in Paoli also.
I work full time but use weaving as a stress reliever and way to express my creativity. I have been weaving for about 6 years now and love both the simplicity and complexity of weaving. At its core weaving, fabric or baskets, is a basic over one fiber and under the next but with simple or complex changes you can create colorful intricate designs.
I also love gardening so I’m excited to shop for plant’s tomorrow!
