Wolves are naturally fearful and distrustful. This instinct is what keeps them safe in the wild, but it also means they have to use patience in their daily life. Nature never moves too fast or too slow... Like a wolf on a hunt, adopt the pace of nature. Whether it's time to slowly stalk forward and observe closely your next move, or rush forward and seize the opportunity, go with the flow!

Just wanted to let all of our pack family out there that we are safe from the ongoing fire in Gorman/Pyramid Lake. Seems they have been able to keep it on the West side of the 5 Frwy. I’m sure it has been a chore. We have been experiencing 30-40 mile an hour winds since Saturday morning.
So grateful for the Firefighters who are risking their lives to keep us safe. 🚒❤️

More Montana conservation groups intend to sue over decision not to re-list wolves 06/05/2024

I want to give a shout out to these organizations telling the truth about wolves and the FACT that the States management policies will lead to endangered or extinct levels again.

More Montana conservation groups intend to sue over decision not to re-list wolves Another coalition of conservation groups, including several from Montana, has given notice to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service it plans to sue to try and force the agency to give Endangered Species Act protections back to gray wolves in Montana and other states in the West. The group, which includ...

US House votes to remove wolves from endangered list in 48 states 06/05/2024

As if the people's House has nothing better to do than end protections once again that violates the specifications of the Endangered Species Act. The first violation was in 2011. Since then the population has remained stagnant at less than 5,000 in the Lower 48 States. That is as many Coyotes in Los Angeles County. It is mathematically impossible for these numbers to cause the harm claimed by the States demanding this delisting.
The last time politicians voted for these Special Interests instead of ESA standards, this number was reduced by Half due to indiscriminate and controlled legal hunting. Luckily, President Biden will veto it.
Please keep holding the high watch for this vital species. 🐺💖🕊

US House votes to remove wolves from endangered list in 48 states The U.S. House voted Tuesday to end federal protection for gray wolves, approving a bill that would remove them from the endangered species list across the lower 48 states. The measure now goes to the Senate, but it appears doomed after the White House issued a statement Monday warning that the Bide...

The world is a sentient place. 🐺❤️🪶🕊

Did you know, those little bees you see in the evening sitting on flowers are old bees.

Old & sick bees don't return to the hive at the end of their day.

They spend the night on flowers, and if they have the chance to see another sunrise, they resume their activity by bringing pollen or nectar to the colony.

They do this sensing that the end is near.

No bee waits to die in the hive so as not to burden the others.

So, next time you see an old little bee sat upon a flower as the night closes in...
..thank the little bee for her life long service.

Staggering wildlife population rebound shows the incredible power of nature: 'Part of a healing process' 10/03/2024

For those who know our wolf education programs, this is a truth we have known for four decades. Let’s know together that it won’t be another decade before we take this healing lesson from our Indigenous ancestors and wildlife. Let nature heal.

Staggering wildlife population rebound shows the incredible power of nature: 'Part of a healing process' The return of bison on tribal lands in Montana has had a remarkable effect on the local landscape.According to EarthJustice.org, 30 wild bison were transferred to the Fort Belknap Reservation in 2013, but since then, the population has grown to around 200. With that, the large bovines have helped im...

We love this 🐺❤️🪶🕊

The wolf pack discovered this summer in Tulare County will now be called the Yowlumni Pack. The pack was found in the Sequoia National Forest in proximity to the Tule River Tribe of California’s reservation and ancestral lands. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is honored to partner with the Tribe on formally naming the pack.

The Tribe shared that the name Yowlumni comes from the Yowlumni band of the Tule River Yokuts.

CDFW is thankful for the Tribe’s assistance in naming the Yowlumni Pack and connecting the cultural significance of the pack in the region to its name.

Information about California’s wolves, including current information about existing packs, wolf biology, conflicts with livestock and CDFW’s wolf management plan can be found at wildlife.ca.gov/Conservation/Mammals/Gray-Wolf.

Our Story

Wolves as a keystone species are vital to the health of the environment. As a kindred species, they mimic human behavior more than any other species, and epitomize the very best of our nature. They have much to teach us about living in harmony with our own true, wild natures and with the environment. They remind us of the necessity to live within a community, a pack; responsible for itself as a whole and each and everyone of its members.

The enormous contribution of wolves to the environment has been uncovered since their re-introduction in the 1990’s to Yellowstone National Park after near extinction in 1974. Recently, wolves in the Northern Rockies have lost their Endangered Species status and the subsequent federal protections. Idaho and Montana are scheduled to begin hunting season in August, and now in Wyoming it is legal to shoot them on sight at any time. Wolves in the rest of the country are under similar threat including the near extinct Mexican wolves.

It is vital for the environment, the planet and ourselves, that the survival of wolves in the wild is ensured for generations to come.
Shadowland Foundation’s pack of nine wolves, serve as Ambassadors for the endangered Gray, Red and Mexican Gray wolves in the wild, and are very close in behavior to them, as you will see and experience up close and personal.

Our Mission: With our passion and programs, it is our greatest intention to expose the truth, educate and eradicate the myths and misconceptions about this magnificent, essential, yet most cast aside creature, the Wolf. And in the end, we will save this species from possible extinction.
