Hi folks;

With a lot of disappointment, CCCAHA is forced to cancel the July 6 Ranch Versatility show, and will also be suspending the Open Breed Horse Show until further notice.

We have been forced to take these steps because there are not enough entries submitted early enough for us to ensure that we will have enough revenue coming in to cover the ever increasing costs of the shows.

Many of you have expressed that we need to do a better job of advertising the events or to move it to the North County, but there are a lot of factors including cost of the venue, accessability to parking, arena footing and/or watering the arenas, proximity and volunteer availability. Most other shows of this nature are in the same boat and are cancelling or rescheduling because of one conflict or another. We try to schedule our events early in the year to avoid conflicting show schedules, bu we can't control the other groups who plan their events over ours, and this dilutes the available number of participants for each show. We also can't depend on "last minute" entries because we have no way of knowing who will show up and what they will be entering in.

We will still be holding the Competitive Trail Ride later this fall, and we will likely hold one big Open Breed Horse show (probably in September) but it will not be a buckle series show. We ask that if you are considering competing in the shows, clinics or other events, please PLEASE get your entries in early so that we can put the event on knowing that our costs will be covered.

Thank you for your support of CCCAHA and our events, but if you want to help make a difference, join CCCAHA, volunteer for one of our committees, or at the very least, enter the shows early and show your support.

20/06/2024

Due to the fact that we did not receive enough entries for the upcoming June 22 Open Breed Horse show this weekend, has been tentatively rescheduled to a future date in July. The Ranch Versatility show is still planning to be held on Saturday, July 6th at 6M Ranch.

This is very disappointing to have to cancel shows for anythin other than bad weather. We want to continue these shows, but unless we get enough entries well in advance of the show dates, it is not cost effective for us to put them on. We will have a new rescheduled date early next week. Those of you who have already sent in entries, we can either roll them over to the new date, or refund your entry fees.

16/06/2024

The Arabian Horse Association of America Region 2 Show will be held the same weekend as our Open Breed Horse Show. Obviously, this pulls many of our Arabian breed riders away from our show because the Region 2 show carries a lot of weight in the national standings.

That being said, it takes a village of volunteers to make these shows successful, and Region 2 is askingfor anyone to volunteer an hour, a day, a weekend to help pull the event together.
If you are open to helping out next week, here is the link to the website that you can sign up to help:

https://signup.com/client/invitation2/secure/613849160111/false #/invitation

Of course, we also need volunteers for our Open Breed show as well as entries, so volunteer for the Region 2 show during the week, and come and ride at our show in the 22nd. You'll have fun, feel fulfilled and know you have done a lot for the horse community.

05/06/2024

WE ARE EXTENDING THE DEADLINE. Folks, we can't stress this enough. We know that a lot of you have busy schedules and that sometimes these shows are a last minute thing that you think about right before the event, but WE NEED MORE ENTRIES OR WE WILL HAVE TO CANCEL THE SHOW!!! We will accept entries up to Thursday, June 20, but no later.

We only have 13 entries as of today (which was the deadline for entries) and we need at least 25 more BEFORE the day of the show or we will cancel it. The first show of the 2 show series is next Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the 6M Ranch in Nipomo.

We have scaled down the buckle series requirements, and there are only 2 shows this year, but the first one is coming up. We need a monimum of at least 35 riders to make these shows happen, so please don't wait until the last minute to get your entry in.

Ribbons to 3rd place this year and High Point of the Day rosettes in every Division as well as the coveted CCCAHA Silver Belt Buckle to the year end champions. Download your entry form and Venmo payment information from our website at https://cccaha.org/riding-events

These shows can't happen without YOU, and we encourage everyone to come out and make these shows a fun event.

The Robert Gonzales Equikinetic Therapy Clinic has been postponed.

Stay tuned for an updated day and price for the clinic.

17/04/2024

The Spring Trail "Fun" Ride is still going on. Entry forms can be found on our website at www.cccaha.org/riding-events in a couple of days. Entries must be submitted by Saturday, May 18th.

Please make sure that you bring water and a watering conveyance for your horses. There will not be any potable water available at the ranch.

Proceeds from the Spring Ride will benefit the Partners in Equestrian Therapy Program. We look forward o seeing you there!!!

17/04/2024

The CCCAHA Versatility Ranch Show originally scheduled for this upcoming Saturday, April 20, 2024 has been rescheduled for the same time and location on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Please stay tuned on our FB Page or the Website for more details.

12/04/2024

Hi folks.

It looks like we are going to be postponing the upcoming CCCAHA Versatility Ranch Show until July 6 in conjunction with another show where we will be in partnership with the area 4H clubs.

We didn’t get enough pre-entries for the event which is why it’s so important to not wait until the last minute to get your entries in.

If you paid by check, we will be returning your entry beginning next week. If you paid by Venmo we will refund your entry at the same time, but there will be a small deduction to cover our Venmo fees.

We apologize for the inconvenience of the postponement and invite you to sign up for our first open breed show coming up in June.

Hello to all CCCAHA Club Members.

By now, you should have received your ballot for the 2024 CCCAHA Board of Directors election. We have received a decent response from our membership, but it could be better.

This is the LAST DAY that you can vote in the election. Any ballots received with a postmark after today will not be counted, so please vote today. If you do not know a candidate and choose not to vote for an office, that's okay. We need your response so that our club can do business in 2024.

Please vote and mail your ballot back today.

CCCAHA.ORG 01/12/2023

Good morning, CCCAHA members. We are a little late in getting this out, but we need to elect our 2024 Officers and Board of Directors this month.

In keeping with the process of nominating and electing our officers, you will have an opportunity to select who you would like to see managing the club for the upcoming year. The link to the nominations is on the following Survey Monkey link:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QD7CQJ8

Click on this link and follow the instructions for the nomination process. Ballots will be mailed out to you after the nominees have been contacted and accepted which will probably be the week of the 11th of December, so the nomination period will be a week and will end on Sunday, December 10, 2023.

You must be a current active member of AHA with CCCAHA as your local club, OR you can be a local CCCAHA Adult Affiliate member. The nomination form will ask you for your name and your e-mail address so that the nomination committee can determine your eligibility to nominate. You can self nominate for any office if you want, so if you think you are open to the opportunity, we welcome your input.

For a list of current officers and Boardmembers, go to the CCCAHA website at www.cccaha.org/about-us and take a look. You can re-nominate any boardmember or officer, or nominate anyone you feel can do a good job for the club.

Thank you in advance and here's to a spectacular 2024!

Once again, CCCAHA wants to thank all of our competitors, their families, friends and supporters for making our 2024 CCCAHA Don and Carol Hirons Memorial Show Series a great success. We had a lighter turn out for our final show of the season, but we had a LOT of other events and shows we were competing with on that last day, so we were excited to see such a great turnout for the show.

Thank you also to Wendy Wergeles for being our main judge and also Robert Gonzalez who not only took on the responsibility of the Trail classes, but also judged the Ranch AND the newly added Reining Opportunity classes.

A HUGE thank you goes out to all of the volunteers that help make this show successful including our Caterer Nena's Kitchen who was out there each and every show and listened to our competitors and guests to construct a menu that appealed to everyone. Also to Lindamae Suprinski who's planning and show management made all of this possible.

We are pleased to announce the winners of our DAY END high point awards as well. Even though some of our winners were not in contention for the Buckle Series, we want to always recognize their amazing competitive spirit and show our appreciation to them for a job well done. If you see your name on this list, but didn't pick up your Day End Rosette, please contact Lindamae Suprinski at [email protected] to arrange for pick up or delivery.

Again congratulations to all of our winners and all of our competitors. We hope to see you on the trail or in the arena for our 2024 Open Breed Show Season and remember to sign up for our upcoming 2023 TRAIL TRIALS just around the corner on Saturday, October 14th at the beautiful Riata Ranch in Santa Margarita.

13/09/2023

We had perfect weather for the 30+ competitors who showed up for the final show of the 2023 CCCAHA Don and Carol Hirons Memorial Open Breed Show Series. Several of the year end awards were hotly contested, and it just goes to prove that you don't always need to come in first place in all of your classes to win an overall championship. A few of our year end winners didn't always place first, but they were dedicated enough to stick it out through the whole season and finished strong.

Here is the list of our Champion, Reserve Champion and Runner Up Award Winners. If you don't see all three awards shown per division, it means that we didn't have enough folks declaring that division or the ones that did declare it, but didn't win an award didn't meet all of the criteria of show attendance. If your name is shown, and you didn't pick up your award, please contact Lindamae Suprinski at [email protected] to arrange delivery or pick up.

12/09/2023

Entry forms for October Trail Trials is up on the website! Don’t procrastinate!

06/09/2023

Thank you for all of your patience while we sort out the issues of putting on the show. Years ago, I was told by a very wise person that if you want to get something done in an all volunteer organization......then volunteer. It takes a lot of man (and woman) hours to make the magic happen, and we really love the support that all of you have given us through the years.

This show is going to be a little light on entries....and it scares me to think that if we don't get more active interest in the shows, they might cease to exist, and none of us wants that. In any event, a lot of you have been asking for the patterns, and because we added a few new "opportunity" classes that we are toying around with, these patterns were pretty intricate, so thanks for being patient in waiting for them.

You can now find them on the website at cccaha.org/riding-events Scroll down to the bottom and you will find all the trail courses, the Halter and Showmanship patterns as well as the new Opportunity reining patterns for walk/trot and lope/canter classes. This should be fun!

See you all on Saturday.

CCCAHA.ORG 15/08/2023

The Show Premium and Class List for the upcoming September 9, 2023 Open Breed Horse Show is now on the CCCAHA Website. Please go to www.cccaha.org/riding-events to download your copy and get your entry in.

A few new OPPORTUNITY classes have been added to the class list for this show in hopes that you might enjoy the variety of the classes and think about trying them on for size. We have added 2 new RANCH RIDING classes for contestants 17 & Under, and 2 additiuonal REINING classes for contestants 17 & Under. Please note that these are OPPORTUNITY classes only, and while we will be awarding ribbons to the top 5 finishers, these will not be eligible for any day end awards.

Also, in light of these new classes, we will be starting the show at 8:00 instead of 9:00 like we have done in the past. This is to allow for the extra time for these new classes to be held.

The Halter and Showmanship classes will begin in the main arena at 8:00 in the same order as before, but the Raining and new Ranch Riding classes will start at 8:00 in the other half of the main arena to speed up the process.

One other important thing to let everyone know about, is to remind everyone to study the Trail Patterns prior to your competition. Several riders are disqualified or have points taken away for going off course, and it's primarily due to just not reading and understanding the course. If you have any questions about the course before you begin, feel free to ask the judge.

THE CDFA HAS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT ALL HORSES IN SAN LUIS OBISPO AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTY HAVE A HEALTH CERTIFICATE PRIOR TO COMPETITION. WHILE WE ARE NOT A SANCTIONED USEF SHOW, WE ARE NOT REQUIRING HEALTH CERTIFICATES AT THIS TIME, BUT IF YOU HORSE IS RUNNING A FEVER OR HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO VESICULAR STOMATITIS VIRUS (VSV), PLEASE DO NOT COMPETE. MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO A TEMPERATURE CHECK ON YOUR HORSE PRIOR TO THE SHOW TO BE SAFE, DO NOT SHARE FEED, WATER OR HORSE TO HORSE CONTACT AS THIS IS A GROWING CONCERN ON THE CENTRAL COAST.

We look forward to seeing eveyone at the show on the 9th. Please get your entries in as soon as possible so that we can ensure a huge success at the end of our show season and begin to plan for the upcoming 2024 season.

CCCAHA.ORG It takes a lot of work to maintain our club and we appreciate all that you to to help and support us through our shows, clinics and events.  The shows and events don't get it all accomplished and your generosity to help keep our club alive is greatly appreciated.

You must also attend at least 2 of the 3 shows for consideration and you must pay the $25.00 BUCKLE SERIES FEE.

Congratulations again to our current high point competitors and we will see who has the desire to close out the season in winning style!

After a little bit of a wait, we are pleased to announce the winners for the High Point of the Day award recipients for the recent June 24, 2023 Open Breed Horse Show at 6M Farms in Nipomo. We are still in the process of auditing all of the scores and current Year End standings from the June 24th show, but in the meantime, this blanket was left at the show. Does this belong to anyone?

If you think it might be yours, contact Lindamae Friant Suprinski at [email protected] and claim it.

25/06/2023

Just finished show #2 at 6M Ranch. The gods provided us with nearly perfect weather. We had an incredible turnout with every class populated with at least one competitor.

It was great seeing some of our familiar faces and incredible to meet some new friends. Day end High Point winners will be posted as soon as we audit the scores again, and we will update our Year End standings within a few days. Our guess is that we have several of the divisions that are very very tight, and the deciding factor will be our September show.

Let's show our team spirit and come and cheer on our competitors at our September 9th show. It will be the biggest and the best yet. Thank you to our judges, our caterer, our competitors and especially to our volunteers. We can't do these shows without you. If you would like to volunteer, please let us know.

18/06/2023

Our second Open Breed Horse Show of the season is now upon us. If you haven't already entered, you have just 2 more days to get them into us. We have a good group of entries including some new Buckle Series entrants as well, so the competition is heating up.

The show patterns are now located on the website at www.cccaha.org/riding-events so make sure that you download the patterns and study them!! Our judges both mentioned that you lose points if you go off course, so it's important that you know which way to turn and where to stop, stand and begin again. Don't make the mistake of not knowing your patterns.....hope is NOT a strategy.

Also, there is currently an outbreak of Equine Vesicular Stomatitis (EVS) that is highly contagious and has been found in horses as far north as Ventura County. Many shows have been cancelled as a result of this. We are moving ahead with ours, but ask all of our competitors to just be aware of this and minimize contact with other horses, use your own watering methods, watch for signs of this disease and if you think your horse has been exposed to it and is exhibiting signs of it, don't compete.

We want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a great time at the show. Come hungry, because we will have Nena's Kitchen there once again serving up breakfast and lunch. If you are able to volunteer......let us know! we love volunteers.

Let's have a great show and we will see you on the 24th.

09/06/2023

We are only 2 weeks away from the June 24th CCCAHA Open Breed Horse show in Nipomo.

If you haven't already downloaded a copy of the entry form and rules page, we have good news.....we have extended the entry date to Thursday June 22nd, so all of you fence sitters will have a chance to get your entries in and not be disappointed.

Remember, that if you still want to vie for the coveted year end buckle series, this will be your last chance to enter the competition. Those who entered at the first show have a head start, but they still need two shows to qualify, so get your entries in as soon as you can.

We will still have Nena's Kitchen out there serving up tasty breakfast goodies and lunch up through the lunch break, so don't worry about lugging around your own food....come taste what Nena's has cooked up for you.

We are always looking for volunteers, so if you can....DO. Contact Lindamae Suprinski at [email protected] for more information on how you can help.

10/05/2023

Round 1 of our year end high point winners is now in the books. You MUST be an active CCCAHA or AHA Member at the time that the points are earned to qualify for the year end belt buckle award. Here's the premium for the April 22, 2023 open breed horse show. Pay special attention to a couple of rule changes involving high point winners and we increased the class fees a little more this year.

We have the ever popular Kelly Elm fresh back from the big Scottsdale Arabian show as our main judge and of course Robert Gonzales will be our Trail and Ranch Riding judge as well.

Ranch Riding will offer both Open and Amateur divisions this year, so it kind of evens out the playing field. If you are a trainer or an Open rider, you will need to declare right away for year end award recognition.

We look foward to seeing everyone at our new venue at 6M Ranch and Equestrian Center in Nipomo! Go to www.cccaha.org/riding-events to download both the premium and the entry form. Both are up in the website now.

Our open breed horse shows are always fun, competitive and will definitely test your skill level.

We do this because we treat the shows like real, live rated competitions with judges who are discerning, yet fair in their evaluations of each and every rider and horse team.

We are currently reaching out to judges we have used in the past, but are always looking for judges who have experience with both English and Western style riding. It is not critical that you are a carded judge, but experience with open breed horse shows is certainly helpful. All of our shows will be held in Nipomo, so we are looking for judges that reside within 60 minutes of Nipomo. We want things to be fair for our judges as well.

Our show dates are
4/22/23
6/24/23
9/9/23

Please contact Jerry Beatty at [email protected] if you are an available judge or know of one who is able to commit to any of these dates, please get in contact with us.

Thank you and enjoy your ride!
