SPD COLD CASE: ALISSA JOHNSON
July 18, 2010
The evening of July 18th 2010, Alissa Johnson was standing outside an apartment in Cogic Square when multiple shots were fired. Alissa was struck by one of the bullets and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second victim self-transported himself to Obici hospital for medical treatment. Witnesses describe a black male wearing all black flee from the scene. Alissa may have been an unintended victim. Information was received that the shooting was retaliatory. Multiple tips have been called in but not enough information has been uncovered for an arrest.

SUFFOLK POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE ON LITTON LANE
SUFFOLK, VA (July 16, 2024) On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Suffolk Police responded to the 1000 block of Litton Lane for reports of gunshots fired.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The victim was identified as Kyron Edwards, 19, of Suffolk.
This is an on-going investigation and there is no further information available for release at this time.

SUFFOLK POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT ON GREEN ASH COURT
SUFFOLK, VA (July 16, 2024) On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Suffolk Police responded to the 6000 block of Green Ash Court for reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found an injured male, 42, of Suffolk walking along the roadway. Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded and confirmed the male was suffering from two gunshots wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This is an on-going investigation and there is no further information available for release at this time.

ADVISORY ALERT:
We have received a number of reports of checks being stolen and washed from mailboxes and public postal drop boxes in our area. The Suffolk Police Department is advising all citizens to NOT use public drop-boxes or accessible mailboxes when sending money, especially checks. Instead, we urge you to take this mail directly into the Post Office to be sent off. This helps ensure no one outside of postal workers will have access to your mail. SUFFOLK POLICE INVESTIGATING SHOOTING INCIDENT ON BRIDGE ROAD
SUFFOLK, VA (July 13, 2024) On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m. Suffolk Police responded to a convenience store in the 3800 block of Bridge Road for reports of gunshots fired.
Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple vehicles hit by gunshots after multiple rounds were fired between two individuals.
There is one known injured person who self-transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation and there is no further information available for release at this time.

SUFFOLK S.W.A.T. TEAM APPREHENDS ONE FOLLOWING SEARCH WARRANT EX*****ON
SUFFOLK, VA (July 12, 2024) On Friday, July 12, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., the Suffolk S.W.A.T. team, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations, executed a search warrant in the 500 block of Catapult Court.
After approximately 10 minutes, Emil Edwards, 19, of Suffolk, was taken into custody after peacefully surrendering to officers.
Edwards was wanted in connection to an armed robbery charge stemming from a June incident.
No one was injured during the search warrant ex*****on.

SPD COLD CASE: BRANDON ALEXANDER ALSTON
June 29, 2011
Shortly after 11:00 P.M. on June 29th 2011, Brandon Alexander Alston was killed in his two story home in the 200 block of Blackstone Way. Officers responded to a shots fired call in the Scottsfield Estates area of Burbage Grant and located a residence with damage by gunfire. The front doorway had broken glass and several bullet holes in it. Brandon was located inside near the front door of his residence deceased. Multiple people in the area were interviewed but not enough information was obtained to identify a suspect/s. Brandon’s murder investigation is still on-going.

Keep a close eye on children in public places and crowds. Have a pre-planned meeting place if you get separated.
If you see something that doesn’t feel right or looks dangerous, report it to the nearest police officer or person of authority.

SUFFOLK POLICE INVESTIGATE SHOOTING INCIDENT ON COUNTY STREET
On Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at approximately 9:45 p.m., Suffolk Emergency Communication Center received a call regarding shots fired near the intersection of County Street and Dill Rd.
Suffolk Police arrived on the scene and determined that an unidentified individual in a vehicle opened fire, striking another vehicle occupied by an adult male and an adult female. The adult female suffered a gunshot wound to her leg. The shooter’s vehicle fled the scene. The female was treated on the scene by Suffolk Fire & Rescue and transported to an area hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
The investigation remains ongoing and there is no further information available for release.
