Gail and I went to Wildwood Park for a Sunday morning walk. The peaceful forest with sun filtering thru the trees lighting up the new wild flowers was the best hallelujah ever. Chorus included peepers in the ponds, sandhill cranes flying by and swans and geese conversing on the lake.
Amen

The gifts of the seasons❤️

“We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives.”GARY ZUKHAV.

Walk like a 5 year old 14/11/2023

When I go for a walk with a child I always am amazed at how much longer it takes. They walk in wonder, explore, spin, jump on and off things, run stop turn around and do it all over again. You may not be able to take a kiddo along with you but you can walk with your inner child and open your eyes to the opportunities to play around you....

Attention all walkers!
Thank you for your interest in the POP Up walk at Lake Como Pavilion, but although I was excited to be able to offer this opportunity, at this time I'm cancelling the walk at Como due to lack of response. Perhaps it's just not a good weekend or time, the class in St Anthony for the same day was cancelled today with no one registered at all, but you were the only ones who responded interested or going. Not that you aren't important to me but I just can't commit the time or distance when it's clear that I could end up being the only one there.
I will try to find another time and day to drive over to the east side.

POP Up Walk tomorrow at 11:30am is Cancelled!

Due to the excessive heat and air quality alert for tomorrow I'm cancelling the POP Up walk at Mississippi Gateway Park. It's rare all these conditions come together but safety comes first. I'm not sure any of us know how we would react to high ozone levels.

Happy Solstice and watch for this walk to be rescheduled for a better time.

Mixing Up Your Walk 28/03/2023

On Christmas Eve I fell and sprained my wrist which took me out of Nordic Walking for several weeks. At the same time I joined the Kula Dance Experiment - 20 minutes of dancing every morning. The two events pushed me to try my own experiment of Dance Walking! Before you shake your head, hear me out. When we go for a walk, with or without poles, we settle into our pace, swing our arms and continue on to the end....

As the snow swirls around today I'm thinking spring and the new Nordic Walking season here in Minnesota. Cheers to the walkers who carried on all through the winter! You've been the hardy ones.

As we plan pop up walks do you have favorite trails you are looking forward to visiting soon?

I'm ready for Lake George in St Cloud and the wildflower season at Wildwood Park near St Joe. Just getting out and seeing everyone again will be wonderful!

In 2018 I was introduced to Charity Miles . I set a goal of 1000 miles of dedicated walking for the year. I did not allow the app to track my daily steps but only count my actual walks. When you turn on the app for a walk there is a sponsor who donates to the charity of your choice from their list. This week I received notice of being inducted into the 6001 club for walking over 6000 miles, the 1 is for going the extra mile.
At 29 cents per mile my walks have donated $1740 to the The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research .
Thank you Charity Miles!
Make every mile count not only for your health and fitness but making a difference for others!
