EDITED ‘CAUSE GARRY’S A DUMMY:
Looking for 4 strapping young (or old) lads (or lasses!) to help us move some heavy (600 #) kitchen equipment tonight at 9pm. Respond with "AARDVARK!!!" if we can count on you. They'll be a libation in it for you!

Couldn’t agree more!

Come meet your new favorite backyard!

Sometimes the wait for a table might take a little longer than you were quoted.

Sometimes your steak might be overcooked or undercooked.

Sometimes your Bloody Mary isn’t spicy enough for your palate.

Sometimes the thing you want most might be out of stock because everybody else also wanted that item most.

Sometimes you’re just not gonna like what you ordered.

Sometimes life just gets in the way of a good time.

There is no reason for you to lose your cool and treat the staff (whose job is to take care of you) like crap. Those in the industry all know it’s not brain surgery or rocket science but there’s no reason act superior or be a jerk to the people who are trying their best to make you have an enjoyable experience.

Morning Star Cafe is one of the best of us and we’re all lucky to have them in our town and our lives! Cheers to Lisa, Will and the team there. Hopefully everyone’s day gets better and you can reset and start again tomorrow.

Our fam at The Dragon & The Mermaid are looking for six 12”x12” metal ceiling tiles for a last minute decor piece. Anybody got any of these laying around?

We hear rumors…

The fam was out celebrating a 1/2 birthday and went to Grand Fun. We had a blast and the staff and owners were so generous and helpful with their time. ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️ Five Stars!

We couldn't go to the Grand Haven Pride Festival yesterday because, well...you know...we were working...

BUT that just means we were here to witness all of the awesome support that was out and about yesterday!

Here is just a quick glimpse...

You know how we said we would talk about the drinks, well...

We've been so busy planning things an launching our June features that WE TOTALLY FORGOT to talk about our guests in this Month's Brewer's Lounge this coming Monday night, June 10, from 5-9pm.

This month Wax Wings Brewing Company accepted our invitation to be our featured brewery for the month of June.

They will be joining us in the lounge and we will be showcasing a couple of their beers:
Condor Valley Fluffsicle | Fruited Kettle Sour | 5%abv | 13oz draft
This tangerine/cara cara fruited kettle sour conditioned on marshmallow has a nostalgic flavor combination from childhood, the toasted marshmallow adds a nice warming note to the standard creamsicle flavor profile. Simultaneously sweet, sour, and refreshing. Perfect Summer treat for the hot weather.

Kalamazoo Skyline | NEIPA | 7.2%abv |
This New England IPA was designed to showcase some of the favorite qualities of a hoppy beer and to pay tribute to what the brewers love most about Kalamazoo. All Citra hops. Double dry hopped. Soft, balanced, and juicy, with waves of citrus and pine.

Pulled Into Nazareth | IPA | 7%abv
The brewery's 'grand opening' consisted of 2 beers, and this was one of them. They were good enough to keep the lights on while they worked out the kinks in the brewhouse. Pulled Into Nazareth has always been their baby, flagship etc. From their last homebrewing batch, it was the beer that led the owners down the rabbit hole of opening WW. 5 years in and it's seen some adjustments here and there, but it remains the soft, tropical citrus and pine forward IPA they always hoped it would be.

Plus...we've always got Condor Valley Royal Jelly in cans. Think Fluffsicle but with vanilla & honey instead of marshmallow.

See...we told you about some of our featured beverages today!

What time is it?

That's right...It's time to talk about this month's Feast Of The Pride Moon features. We promised yesterday we would post about them today. Today we will focus on our food features.

We had a good time coming up with food that we felt could represent the colors of PRIDE. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, right? Well then, here are 7000+ words about this month's food features...

Tomorrow we'll go over the beverages. Come see us soon.

Cheers!

Pride! Pride!!
Everywhere Pride!!!
Rockin’ out the local scene
Givin’ me Pride!
Do this, and do that
Can’t you see the Pride!!!

We are so happy that our little ol’ lakeshore community has embraced love and understanding over hatred and misinformation. Pride festivals in Holland, Muskegon, Grand Rapids and GRAND HAVEN wouldn’t have even been possible 30 years ago when we first moved to town.

This calls for a CELEBRATION!

So…in support of Pride month, we have a couple of fun things to talk about. A couple are following up on our previous conversations, and a couple are new things to share:

OLD BUSINESS:
Cool Ass Jacket Raffle - Remember, the auction ends tomorrow. You can still bid to win. A picture of the jacket is included in the pics on this post. Here is the link bid: tinyurl.com/bidonthisjacket

Unicorn Pride T-shirt - These are still available to order through the month of June. The first round was to get them here before this weekend's festivities. The next batch will be ordered to arrive the after the July Fourth holiday. These shirts are not only pretty F'ing cool but also raise money for the 2025 Grand Haven Pride Festival. Here's a link to order one, if you're still interested: https://tinyurl.com/UnicornPride

NEW BUSINESS:
Feast Of The Pride Moon: June 2024 Food & Beverage Features - This month our food theme is "The Colors Of PRIDE." There’s a sneak peak in the attached pics and tomorrow we will do a Feast Of The Pride Moon only post but we wanted to talk about our dessert and cocktail features.

Every month we run a program we call Pour it Forward/Pay It Forward featuring menu items that we use to raise money for the local elementary school PTO's. This month, since school's out for summer, we've renamed the program, Pour It Forward/ PRIDE it forward and we are going to donate the funds to...you guessed it, the 2025 Grand Haven Pride Festival.

This month's fundraising dessert is part of our "The Colors Of PRIDE" theme: Flourless Chocolate Torte & Ultra-Violet Compote (gf): A Chocolate torte with warm blackberry-gin compote, house-grown mint & a gin-sugar dusting. Violet represents "spirit" and we've go spirit, yes we do. We've got spirit, how 'bout you?

This month's fundraising cocktail, P B & Gay, is a peanut butter whiskey & strawberry old fashioned and was created by Jaime Michela Quinn, the co-chair of the Grand Haven Pride Festival.
You should come try it. It seriously tastes like one of those Crustables®!

Speaking of, you should watch this if you want to understand how our mind works...
https://www.facebook.com/reel/268683946259639
BELGIAN WAFFLE BATTERED CRUSTABLE IS OUR NEW BAND NAME!!!!

AND FINALLY...Not that we need to tell you, our fans and the best thing about what we are doing here, but let us not forget that Pride Month doesn’t end on June 30th. These celebrations should be every day. Hate, misinformation and violence HAVE NEVER been an acceptable reaction to a community coming together to support inclusion and diversity AND NEVER WILL BE!

PRIDE should be 24 hours a day. 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year!

Cheers!

The Unicorn - A work in progess.

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2019

Today I sit in the office of the newly closed auto repair and parts service that our family just purchased, looking out on Beechtree, enjoying the sunlight. Having a location that I know is a great space for what we want to here is exciting. BONUS - I have a spot to work out of now that doesn’t involve our dining room table or a desk in the living room. We have a lot of work to do before we can cut the ribbon at our Grand Opening but I know that we are up to the task. We are excited about creating a space that is comfortable and inclusive.

Our goal is to build a place where friends and families come to share a good meal and good time, where our staff & our guests are an extension of our family, and where the community doesn’t end at our front door. This is our neighborhood. Not only do we own a business in East End, we also have lived here for almost 20 years.

Welcome to our house.
