On one of our Saturday travels, we decided to take a jeep ride to Mt. Pleasant. We were looking for a place to eat, and Laura's Cheesecake was one of our options. The first place we went had great reviews, but they didn't have dine in. We decided that wasn't the place for us as we were from out of town and wanted a place to sit and rest.
We went to Laura's Cheesecake and ordered a brisket and pimento cheese sandwich. Instead of each one getting something different, we all opted for the same sandwich. We did, however, get different cheesecakes.
Located in an old building, Laura's is great for large and small groups.

We heard about VIA Italia through a friend, and since we wanted some good Italian food, we decided to make the drive to White Oak.
The food is all handmade. Everything is made at the restaurant except the meat. The salad is created fresh and not a bag that's dumped into a bowl. We both got the Chicken Parmesan (which comes with spaghetti and salad), and it was delicious. Freshly made and plenty of it. It's rare that I take home any food, but with this, I did.
They say a lot of their customers come from other towns, and I can see why.
If you're looking for great Italian food, then this is the place to go.

Rain or shine, come in for live music and celebrate the *NEW* Cottage. Our hand-cut beef tenderloin with cowboy butter, sautéed zucchini, and jalapeño cheesy grits ($27) will be worth the trip! Steve approves 😍
My wife read about Larry Bruce Gardens a few years ago, but we had never been able to go. An opportunity came that allowed us to go and finally eat at the restaurant that we have heard so many good things about. The food was served buffet style. It started with a great salad bar, then a vegetable bar (with lots of homegrown vegetables), and then to the meat, which was brisket and sausage. We really loved the food and visiting with people who eat there regularly. Highly recommend to anyone in the area or who like us, drove the 2 hours to get there.
