About Reintegrate Appalachia
Reintegrate Appalachia is a collaborative effort between West Virginia Sober Living (WVSL) and Coalfield Development Corporation (Coalfield) and is supported by West Virginia University Health Sciences Center (WVU HSC) and Ascension Recovery Services (Ascension). The initiative helps re-engage each participant in their community through meaningful employment, gives them the opportunity to continue their education, grow their professional skills and receive continuation of the clinical and peer-to-peer support needed to maintain sobriety. The primary goal of Reintegrate Appalachia is to bridge the gap between short-term addiction recovery and long-term addiction recovery by providing stable careers to West Virginians that have been affected by addiction.
This program utilizes a 33-6-3-Plus work model developed by Coalfield Development, West Virginia Sober Living (WVSL), and Ascension Recovery Services. The 33-6-3 program will provide meaningful full-time employment (33 hours weekly), ready access to higher education in the community college setting (6 hours weekly), and access to a professional development curriculum (3 hours weekly).
The Reintegrate Appalachia process is a comprehensive approach to helping individuals maintain their new sobriety, while also integrating themselves back into their communities as productive members of society. During this time, participants will:
