Woods Equine
Sharon and Hailey Woods come from and compete against a long line of prestigous riders that intertwine through barrel racing, rodeo, and gymkana events.
Between the two, they have competed in BRN4D, WPRA, NPRA, AW4D, Necessity Invitational Challenge of Champions, NW5D, W.H.O., OBRA, OHSET, 4H and ProRodeo. Both have trained numerous horses that have competed and won. Huga's Loaded Gun is Sharon's current barrel horse, that was patterned by Hailey, finished by Sharon, and is now on her way up to the winner's circle. Sharon has trained many horses
This photo brings me so much joy! Lucy & Britney ❤️
I LOVE breeding and creating new life. I have had so much joy out of breeding, breaking and training my own babies.
I dreamed for years of this and now it’s coming true! The mamas are treated like Queens, fed as natural as possible, cleansed out with herbs during pregnancy and given ample amount of love. I have been lucky enough to assist and be involved in every birth. The babies are handled from the moment they are born. Halter broke by 2 weeks and discover life in a big pasture with their mama. By the time they are weaned they haul, listen to voice cues, tie up, are good with their feet and can be bathed. Handling them at a young age, makes the rest of their life and training so much easier! The world is not a scary place for them - it’s a curious adventure!
When they are big enough and their mind is ready, then they are broke. There is not an age requirement, I want them to last a long time and be strong & healthy. When they need breaks, they get them! I train at thier speed, keeping their mind fresh and excited for the next ride.
I have loved creating this program and can’t wait to see what it turns into in the next decade. I have two babies on their way for 2026, only one will be for sale 😇

Happy day! We have known the Baker family for awhile and adore them!
One month ago, Hailey assisted Virginia in the sale of her mare and then started to look for her next horse. We didn’t realize that he was already in Sharon’s barn!

My heart is so full ❤️ The past two weeks have been Kids Camp and Jr JTMR. What an amazing time filled with teaching these great kids horsemanship, life lessons and about God. I was blown away by their desire to work hard and learn who Jesus is. We had a few moments I will never forget! Shoutout to the parents and families who support me and choose me to train and teach their kids ❤️
We had to say “so long” to the best baby sitter around!!!
Itzelle, your halter will hang in our barn forever. Even though we may have called you, “Itzelle the Sh*tzelle”…you will always have a special place in our hearts. We miss you, Itzy Bitzy❤️

Every now and then I like to mix the young kids in with the older kids for a group lesson. Tonight was so good! It warms my heart to watch the older ones take the younger ones under their wings, helping them and cheering them on. Tonight was good ❤️
JTMR is only 6 weeks away! It’s our favorite weekend of the year. A weekend of revival - of fellowship - of laughs - of good food - of learning new drills & skills - of riding & bonding with your horse. The clinic is centered around Christ and our relationship with Him. We have a few spots left - sign up today!
Sparkle was one of the grittiest mares I ever had the pleasure of training. In only 8 months of seeing a barrel pattern, she won $5,000 in money and prizes. This mare was going to be unstoppable; her drive, her style, her heart! Sadly, this was all cut short due to a career ending injury.
At such a young age Sparkle had a new purpose in life, being a Mama 🥰 In 2023 she gave birth to a gorgeous c**t. This year, I am blessed with amazing friends who are giving me an opportunity to have a Sparkle Baby ❤️
Sparkle is bred to Firewaters Fugitive, which will cross a few things off my breeding checklist. Firewater Flit was one of the first studs I fell in love with. As a child, I would cut pictures of him out of magazines and make up my own set of papers. I had big plans as a little girl playing with my Breyer horses. Now I’m grown up and those plans are coming true! Excited for this cross!
Baby #2 heartbeat confirmed ✅
We have always said, Raven is so perfect we wish there were 10 more of her! This year Jan decided it was time to have a Ray baby!
Raven is so special to all of us, she is a one in a million mare. To have a baby out of her is a dream! We’re excited for the cross with Little Dun Starlight for a 2025 foal.
Heartbeat check for Baby #1 is confirmed!

Today was a great day spent on the back of some of our favorites 🥰
I am so proud of these kids! They all had goals set in mind coming into the show, and I’m happy to report each one accomplished their personal goal. Some was for safety, some was quiet hands, some was to keep their bu******ks in the saddle 🫣😊🤣 We did it!
It warms my heart to see a group of kids love their horses - support their friends - and have a great day together. They also have an amazing support team of parents and loved ones. I feel blessed to have these people in my life ❤️
Raven also had her fastest Pole run so far, she makes poles FUN 🤩

Breeding these horse brings me so much joy - but to see my friends fall in love with my babies tops it all! ❤️ Congratulations Britney, Shine made you a good one!
Welcome to the world Lucy 🥰

A strong work ethic, responsibility and respect are not common qualities; but Alex has that and then some! Alex shows up ready to work, ready for any task the day might bring. He takes pride in his work and is the best stall cleaner this side of the Mississippi! He has set goals for himself and works towards them everyday. He is driven and motivated, nothing is going to stop this kid!
At the barn - you learn more than just how to ride a horse. You learn responsibility, you learn time management, you learn patience and a million other things. However, we can’t take all the credit for this kid. His parents raised him right!
Alex’s 2024 goal is to go to a gaming show, so we’re going to make that happen!
Miss Raven saved the day for Stori at OHSET! Ray came to play winning Poles and placed 10th in barrels. Figure 8 would have been smokin but we won’t talk about that 🤣
Stori - I am so proud of you. Life has thrown you one hurdle after another and you have handled them all with grace. It makes me jump for joy that your last weekend running before your surgery, you got to go out a champion. You rode awesome and your hard works shows up!
Raven you are a rockstar 🤩 She has been working as a kids lesson horse and hasn’t run poles since this summer. To come back and pop off a time like that, all while taking care of Stori!! Raven is one of those once in a lifetime - anyone can ride - consistent - all around horses. Jan and I are super proud mamas!

Today is a day I have looked forward to for a very long time. My first ride on the first baby I ever bred, Penelope ❤️ Katelyn & Pinky have been working hard together learning a lot. Tonight was the first time I swung my leg over her, she feels just like her mama Bullet ❤️ It was a special moment that brought a tear to my eye and made my heart full of joy!!!! 🥹

13 years ago I found a little bay mare in a dark pen at the back of the Hermiston auction. My gut told me ‘SHE IS SPECIAL’, and then I convinced mom and dad to buy her. We brought her home and she showed us how talented and special she really was. I finished her training and started her on the pattern. I got to watch her win with my mom, all over the PNW. Then I got to watch her win with a very dear friend. Carrying her to victory from here to Texas. I have always had a dream to breed, and this little bay mare lit that fire 13 years ago. Today, she sits in my barn once again. With a career to hang her halter on. This little bay mare is going to help me fulfill a long dream come true. Big things sometimes come in small packages, and once in a lifetime horses sometimes come as a little bay mare. She is living her best life being loved on as a lesson horse and hopefully a soon to be a mama. This little bay mare is home, and I couldn’t be more happy. Welcome home Reese ❤️

Bailey, you have touched so many lives. Taught so many little girls how to ride, how to love and how to take care of a horse. You are kind, forgiving and so loving. I was so excited to have you come home one last time. I thought it would be longer, but the time I got I cherished.
I’m sorry I couldn’t take your pain away, I’m sorry I couldn’t give you a glorious retirement like you so deserved. Thank you for every day you gave to all of us. Thank you for all the amazing people you brought into my life. You are loved by so many.
My barn in heaven has a stall waiting for you, with a golden plaque for a golden horse. I’ll see you again one day. I guess Grandpa needed another good mare ❤️🩹🥹

This little paint has been around for the last 3 years. I have seen him owned by an adult, a little girl, a teenage girl and now a teenage boy. The way he adapts to fit his person is special. He has a larger than life personality and is the barn comedian. But the best part about Cutter, is the GIANT smile he puts on this kid’s face. Joe and Cutter have made the perfect pair, and are clearly best friends already. It’s been hard keeping this secret 🤫 but now we can announce that Cutter found his home, and just moved a few stalls down! Congrats Bielenberg Family ❤️ You got a good one!
I did something crazy three months ago, I took a chance on a big dark bay gelding. He was a futurity hopeful with a tendency to run up the wall, was sold and then had a horrible accident. He was put out to pasture for a year.
I was looking for Hank’s protégé, on a very limited budget. Jack entered the picture. His breeding is impeccable and that enticed me to the challenge.
With many doubts, I said yes and knew this would be a team effort! Between Hailey (intuition/energy work), Glenn (massage/skeletal), Dr Solomon, Katelyn (acuscope/myopulse) and I (feeling his movement); my hopes to fix this sweet boy have started to become a reality.
The first few runs were wild. He had a nasty starting issue that is rough and abrupt. We have been working everyday to solve both physical and mental issues. Saturday we entered Novice, because to the best of my investigation, Jack has won approximately $300. He walked flat footed into the arena, made his start without ducking, and loped a beautiful pattern. If you saw our first attempt at a run - you would know why this is such a big deal.
Jack came into my life for a reason! It’s been pretty easy to love Mr. Jack. I am excited to see what his future will hold for us.

Two years ago, we purchased Jetty. We knew she was special and had a special purpose & person.
Jetty’s first stop was our friend, Rebekah, for a year. They competed in jackpots, worked on the ranch and even carried flags at rodeos. After a year, Rebekah felt they were not the perfect fit and there was someone else that was meant to be with her. So Jetty came home. Then she found her way to Alysha ❤️ Alysha was the special person Jetty was meant to be with.
When God is allowed to orchestrate one’s life, everything works out the way it is supposed too. A year ago, Alysha would not have been ready for Jetty and Jetty would not have been ready for Alysha. Over this past year, Alysha has worked extremely hard to improve her riding and become a soft handed competitor. Miss Jetty has completely fallen in love with her new person.
Last week they won their first check! Last night they had their fastest time! We can’t wait to watch them become an unstoppable team!
I feel so blessed for the woman and horse in this picture. I am so thankful that we get to share Raven, she’s such a blessing to us and the kids at the barn.
Jan is one of the best people I’ve ever known, and I proudly call her my Aunt Jan. We already miss you. Come home to a Oregon soon! 🧡
This year I was NPRA Barrel Racing Director. I learned the ropes and tried my best for the organization. Going into finals, I got to know the Top 12. They were looking forward to a fun finals and I was looking forward to watching some tough good competition. Instead, we were met with horrible ground conditions that they were expected to run on. Hours prior to the performance; contestants and friends worked diligently to try to make a bad situation better. Hoping the efforts of all would make the difference.
Last night was the worst rodeo ground I have ever witnessed, in all my rodeo career. Twelve seasoned rodeo horses: nine slipped, one went all the way down and came back up; while the other two horses went down and lost their jockeys in the dirt.
Today, second go…there was MUCH discussion about what to do, but it came down to a decision that was made for the one’s who don’t have a voice.
AS A GROUP the girls decided not to run the second go.
I am in awe of what NPRA did next. I have never seen it done before. The Judges and Directors stood behind the Barrel Racers and deemed the ground unsafe, and made it financially right with all of them.
This Finals was not what anyone wanted; the girls were dealt a truly bad hand. However, together we came out united.
Thank you NPRA for choosing to support the barrel racers and their horses. Thank you to everyone who tried to help fix the situation.
Thank you to the 12 women who cared more about your horse than the competition. I consider all of you my friends ❤️
