Phil Brock for Santa Monica City Council
"Fortunate People In a Fortunate Land". Let's join together to reject increased height, increased density & preserve our Santa Monica!
We must restore the meaning in our city seal to our daily lives. The safety of our residents must be paramount.

Dem Club Candidates' Open Hypocrisy on Fighting Crime I believe the voting public is now generally aware that the Establishment slate of city council candidates -- Dan Hall, Ellis Raskin, Barry Snell, and Natalya Zernitskaya -- unanimously supports LA County DA George Gascon and his failed policies.
With a Disgraceful Op-Ed, Four “Reform” Santa Monica City Council Candidates Disqualified Themselves from Holding Office Santa Monica voters must reject candidates who evince open hostility to community engagement and whose views are so out of alignment with a majority of citizens

Santa Monica police officer stabbed, suspect shot to death Santa Monica Mayor Phil Brock said the police department needs more officers - and they're hiring.
Interestingly, the SMRR/Dem Club slate complained about the donations made to the PAC to support safety on our streets while not mentioning the Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars that were contributed to their side by HERE/Local 11 (the Housekeeper's union) and the "Abundant Housing" community.
Please know that Local 11 led a strike effort against area hotels for more than six months that upended the Wilmont and Downtown communities with noise beginning at 5:30 AM and later starting seven days a week at 7:00 AM. They ignored the efforts of residents and portions of the City Council, who felt that no noisy protests should begin before 8 AM. You should ask why the protestors and their leaders were so inconsiderate of residents. Also, ask yourselves why HERE/Local 11 constantly tries to interfere with our elections and pack the City Council with supporters who are loyal to them rather than residents.
It's been disturbing for almost a decade, and this powerful union is trying once again to buy our elections.
The endorsements keep coming because our residents, businesses, and organizations know I am committed to helping abate crime, reduce homelessness in our city, and restore downtown Santa Monica to prosperity. Brock the Vote!

Policies drive up crime...a letter to the editor by Peter DiChellis

ENDORSEMENT ALERT!
Santa Monica faces a historic City Council election this November, one which could fundamentally change the character of our city.
There is a stark contrast between the two slates vying for your votes. One slate – Vivian Roknian, John Putnam, Phil Brock, and Oscar de la Torre are home-grown: their philosophies and actions are in sync with SMCLC – to advocate for residents, not developers, and fight for the scale, character, and livability of Santa Monica.
The other slate, fueled by big money and entrenched political interests, strongly supports high-density overdevelopment throughout our city, including letting developers build apartment buildings in single-family neighborhoods, and the removal of parking requirements for new projects. They will not push back against new state mandates overriding local zoning because they agree with those mandates.
This sharp contrast about Santa Monica’s future was evident at the recent City Council candidate's forum, hosted by Santa Monica’s neighborhood associations and attended by over 400 residents. Here’s the link to the video:

Recently, SMCLC interviewed Vivian Roknian and John Putnam. Like Phil and Oscar, whom we supported in 2020, they are long-time residents who are passionate about our City and helping its residents. We believe they are strong, ethical, hard-working and smart candidates who will prioritize residents, not developers, and usher in needed change at City Hall. With your help they can win.
Together with Phil and Oscar, Vivian and John would constitute a powerful resident-friendly Council majority, improve City government across the board, and hold the City accountable in controlling unrestrained, unsustainable growth.
Please circulate this to your friends and neighbors and ask them to join our mailing list at www.smclc.net so we can keep them informed throughout this election cycle.

I see and feel a crisis of spirit in the air — a breakdown in order and safety that will continue to spiral out of control as crime, mental illness, and addiction remain untreated. Our resources can only respond to the surface of the problem. Still, because of the political attention this crisis has caused, I know this is our moment to act—because Santa Monica deserves nothing less.
