I've received several messages about Stuff a Stocking. Yes, we are doing it again this year. Here is the updated flyer!
We need 540 Stockings. Can you help us?
Remember, you don't have to donate a full stocking, we'll take individual items and use that to create stockings as well.
This is a great group/family/business/organization project!
Thank you!
All the pallets have been taken.
Camella’s Cupboard is looking for people to join our dedicated and enthusiastic team of volunteers. Orientation and training will take place in early September. For more information contact [email protected]
Thank you to all of the students who volunteered with us this summer! As you start back to school, have a great year!
We have pallets coming out of our ears! Plastic pallets, wooden pallets, you name it we got it. All free for the taking.
Pallets can be picked up at 2 Pickett District Rd., go to the second driveway turn right right after the building there is a little blacktop path, and the pallets are down that path against the building.
Due to the carnival at JPCC, Camella’s Cupboard is moving distribution to Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 AM. There will be no distribution Friday evening. Distribution will still take place at the John Pettibone community center, but look for our volunteers to direct you, as the traffic pattern will be different than normal.
I was in town a few days ago after work, wearing my Camella’s Cupboard T-shirt. I was standing in line to pay when a young child came running up to me. He stopped right in front of me, looked up at me and said, “I know you!”
Not recognizing the child, I responded with, “you do?” He then pointed in the direction of John Pettibone Community Center and said, “yes, you work over there.” I smiled and replied that he was correct. He then pointed to my shirt and said “Yes, I know, because you give us food.”
You never know what small gesture is going to make a big impact on someone’s life.
Get out and do something kind today!
Blessing Boxes:
Don't forget our friends and neighbors in these extreme temperatures. Some requests for the Blessing Boxes - crunchy peanut butter, tuna in OIL, and coffee. Bottles of water are also great this time of year.
Have some fun filling the Blessing Boxes - include some sunglasses, ice pops, bubbles, inflatable beach ball, sunscreen, and as we begin to prepare for school - school supplies are always welcome for families in need.
Once a month we drive to Midwest Food Bank New England to pick up a truckload of food. We have always had to rent a truck for several hundred dollars a month to get there and back. However, thanks to Paul Szymanski of Distinct Storage who generously donated the use of his truck to us, we are now able to pick up this food for free!
We are so grateful!
Special request from those using the Blessing Boxes:
1. Chunky Peanut Butter
2. Coffee
3. Ramen Noodles
Some reminders for the Blessing Boxes, especially as we are now into warmer weather.

Why We Do What We Do
My mother, Camella, grew up poor - like depression poor, only it wasn’t the depression era. I remember her telling my brother and I of watching other kids eat their lunch at school when she had nothing. She talked of going to bed hungry. She talked of no food in the house day after day.
I remember, as a small child, thinking, “why didn’t someone do something to help?” Maybe help was available and her parents didn’t know about it. Maybe her parents were too proud to ask for help. Maybe no one offered help.
So, in honor of my mother, I’m offering help to families in need.
Camella’s Cupboard is a forming 501(c)3 that will provide assistance to those facing food insecurity in New Milford, CT.
