Good communication means delivering information accessibly to everyone who needs it. As our clients work to meet the digital accessibility needs of our community, CIG provides guidance, resources and remediation to help Colorado become more inclusive for people of all abilities. Every tagged PDF, line of alt text and captioned video opens information to a new audience, and we are proud to support our clients in this effort!

School’s out for summer, but our team recently headed to MSU Denver for the 2024 Public Interest Communications Summer Institute. Jake, Ryan and Abby joined academics and practitioners from across the country to collaborate in building the emerging field of public interest communications. What the heck is public interest communications? It's a research-based strategic communication approach aimed at creating positive social change. We’re excited to apply the lessons learned to our projects that are impacting local communities!

Is Colorado a square? A rectangle? A hexahectaenneacontakaiheptagon? While Colorado appears to have four sides, the state's borders have hundreds of twists and turns. The state doesn't just have four sides, but a total of 697 sides! This is because the earth is round and the 19th-century surveyors laying out state borders made mistakes along the way. Whatever shape it may be, we're proud to call Colorado home.

University/Lincoln and Quebec Construction Live Town Hall 29/05/2024

The intersection of University/Lincoln and Quebec in Highlands Ranch was built more than 40 years ago. Now, as the concrete reaches the end of its useful life, Douglas County is taking action to enhance road quality and safety. By August 2024, expect a complete transformation: revamped concrete, a new traffic signal system, raised pedestrian safety islands, extra lanes on Lincoln Avenue and University Boulevard, and a dedicated right-turn lane from southbound Quebec Street. CIG loves diving into the communication challenges of such complex projects! Want to learn more? Check out a live town hall from April 25:

On April 18, the bridge between Gunnison and Montrose was temporarily closed in response to safety concerns identified during ongoing inspections. CIG quickly stepped in to help CDOT during this critical time, providing emergency communications support, including 24/7 hotline monitoring, managing project emails, crafting fact sheets, social media posts, press releases and FAQs, as well as facilitating public meetings. We're grateful for the opportunity to assist CDOT and proud of our team's dedication to supporting the community.

If you’ve ever met our associate creative director, Eric Winfield, you know he’s a phenomenal graphic designer, web wizard, drone pilot, hands-on creative, avid vintage Toyota aficionado, gardener extraordinaire, and all-around good dude. He’s a true Renaissance man, and one couldn't be a modern-day Da Vinci without being a painter. And, as you might expect, he’s really good at it. Eric was a featured artist at Ad Club Colorado’s annual Juice art show last week, and since he’s far too humble to do it himself, we feel it’s our duty to brag on his behalf… Kudos to you, Eric! 👏 🎨

Out of Office: CIG was pleased to meet some friendly faces (and snouts) at last week during our staff service day! 🐾 We spent the day helping around the facility and, of course, snuggling up with the residents. A huge thanks to Pepper's for having us!

Pepper’s is a local nonprofit “dog retirement community,” where elderly dogs are cared for during their good days, bad days, and last days. Give them a follow to find out how you can support this incredible organization!

Good things come in threes – including BRT! CIG is proud to be working on all three of the state’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) projects that will bring faster and more reliable transportation to Federal Boulevard, East Colfax Avenue, and Colorado Boulevard. What is BRT? It’s a bus-based transit system that acts similar to a light rail or subway. Think dedicated bus lanes, traffic signal priority, enhanced stations and online ticketing. We’re honored to be a part of these transformative projects! 🚌

Colorado’s mountain corridors make our state famous. They can also be quite hazardous, especially for truckers. Severe weather, traffic, steep grades, rockfalls: road conditions can change at a moment's notice. That's one of the reasons we paired up with Colorado Department of Transportation on its campaign. This series is about informing and educating trucking companies and drivers on the challenges of traveling through Colorado’s mountains. Keeping Colorado roads safe is one of our top priorities — and we take that responsibility seriously! 🛣 Check out the campaign here: https://freight.colorado.gov/mountain-rules/mountain-rules

CIG is diving into two new water projects! 💦 We’re excited to be working with Thornton Water Conservation on communications to help residents understand their water utility's role, explore available services, and appreciate the value of water. Further north, we’re gathering input from water professionals and state and local agency leaders to develop a plan for managing water pollution for Weld and Larimer counties.

Our philosophy at CIG? Work hard and play harder. This year’s annual staff retreat had us bouncing off the walls at Bounce Empire. We spent the day planning, setting goals and then letting loose. Our other philosophy? We never take ourselves too seriously.

On Saturday, CIG helped CDOT bring safety to the streets – Blake Street that is – for Denver’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade ☘️ With more than 300,000 spectators, the parade was the perfect place to hand out Uber ride credits to prevent impaired driving, share information on safe winter driving, and spread the word about Bustang Outrider – CDOT’s rural-regional bus service.
