Here’s your chance to become a member of a real Mardi Gras Krewe. This is our first meeting of the year and the Board has updates about some exciting new plans for our 2025 parade and festival. We’re beginning this year by celebrating the fact that the donations we’ve made to local animal rescues total over $100,000. Costumes are always a great part of the fun at our parade. It’s Mardi Gras so anything goes but the costumes related to our theme are especially exciting. “Game of Bones” will inspire lots of unique ones, we think. Here some ideas for inspiration.
Each year the Krewe members vote to choose a theme for our next parade and we’re so excited to made this announcement!

Wow Wow Wow!! What else can we say about the Barkus Parade? Just WOW! The 2024 Barkus Parade was nothing short of miraculous. Crowd numbers are estimated to be close to 10,000 and that's not including the dogs! It was a fun filled spectacle and we have so many people to thank.
First, The Krewe of Salty Barkers and all the volunteers involved in the planning and ex*****on of this enormous event. Something like this doesn't happen in just a few days or weeks. It takes months of planning and organizing to pull something like this off and we are forever grateful for your time and effort on our behalf. We also want to thank all the sponsors, vendors, muscians and of course all the attendees. Your support allows us to do what we do. Thank you!
Besides having a fantastic time, we adopted 5 puppies, 2 dogs and a kitty at the event. We felt the love from everyone who came by the tent to leave donations and encouraging words. We appreciate each and everyone of you and can't wait to do it again in 2025!
Our 2024 Mardi Gras Queen has been adopted! She has a new name and a new mom but she will always be a our Queen. This makes us so happy!
Thank you to our super sponsor..the Eastpoint Beer Company.
The Forgotten Coast Parrot Head Club 🦜 folks are just awesome! They organized and set up the Salty Dog Saloon at the Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade and fetched a variety of beverages for our visitors. They are the hardest working, most fun volunteers you’ll ever meet and we appreciate them more than they can imagine.
The parade doesn’t start until Lofty Pursuits gets started. Thank you all for coming. You’re wonderful!
King Rufus returned for the day! 👑
King Rufus! He was our Mardi Gras king a couple of years ago and he’s obviously is living the good life. We’re so happy for him and so pleased to see him again.
