We’re beginning this year by celebrating the fact that the donations we’ve made to local animal rescues total over $100,000. Costumes are always a great part of the fun at our parade. It’s Mardi Gras so anything goes but the costumes related to our theme are especially exciting. “Game of Bones” will inspire lots of unique ones, we think. Here some ideas for inspiration.

Each year the Krewe members vote to choose a theme for our next parade and we’re so excited to made this announcement!

Wow Wow Wow!! What else can we say about the Barkus Parade? Just WOW! The 2024 Barkus Parade was nothing short of miraculous. Crowd numbers are estimated to be close to 10,000 and that's not including the dogs! It was a fun filled spectacle and we have so many people to thank.
First, The Krewe of Salty Barkers and all the volunteers involved in the planning and ex*****on of this enormous event. Something like this doesn't happen in just a few days or weeks. It takes months of planning and organizing to pull something like this off and we are forever grateful for your time and effort on our behalf. We also want to thank all the sponsors, vendors, muscians and of course all the attendees. Your support allows us to do what we do. Thank you!
Besides having a fantastic time, we adopted 5 puppies, 2 dogs and a kitty at the event. We felt the love from everyone who came by the tent to leave donations and encouraging words. We appreciate each and everyone of you and can't wait to do it again in 2025!

The Forgotten Coast Parrot Head Club 🦜 folks are just awesome! They organized and set up the Salty Dog Saloon at the Apalachicola Mardi Gras Barkus Parade and fetched a variety of beverages for our visitors. They are the hardest working, most fun volunteers you’ll ever meet and we appreciate them more than they can imagine.

Line up for the parade is announced at about 12:30 and registration gets very busy as the morning goes on, so we recommend that you come early to register and then enjoy the other activities in the park before the parade begins.

The Parade: starts exactly at 1:00 for registered walkers and decorated vehicles. The parade begins on Water Street at Riverfront Park, winds down Commerce Street, through the Bowery area, and ends back at
Riverfront Park for more revelry. Lots of guests and their pups come in costume related to the theme or in their Mardi Gras finery.

The Park: entrance is free. Riverfront Park will be filled with 40+ local arts, crafts, and food vendors. Local food specialties are featured including oysters and shrimp, as well as dozens of other festival treats. Homemade sangria, wine, and craft beer from Eastpoint Brewery will be available. A professional photographer will be on hand to make portraits of you and your best furry friends.

The Ukulilies, a local ukulele orchestra will be serenading the crowd in the park beginning at 11:00 and Flying Fish, a great local band, will add their classic rock sounds just after noon and have us dancing until 4:00.

Krewe Merchandise: Check out the purple Krewe tents for special items including this year’s tee shirts and hats, signed posters, specialty beads, and some fun Mardi Gras items. There is a limited supply of Krewe merchandise so we suggest you shop for those items early.
