One of the most common question types we get at Twin Oaks courses and Dm inquiries is about hand held system purchases.

Which one should I get?

Can I bill for my services if I get one?

Which one will be compatible with my personal phone or tablet?

How's the image quality?

How many hours can the batteries last?

Well friends, we've done all the work for you. Twin Oaks Anesthesia Services now has a FREE resource thats presented on the website that not only provides general information about all hand helds, but outlines the main aspects of the seven most popular devices for you. We hope you'll find it useful.

Effects of applying platelet-rich plasma during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials - Scientific Reports 14/05/2024

Always learning and considering new techniques.

I’m fortunate enough to work with a progressive Orthopod who’s now routinely adding PRP to selective arthroscopic procedure. Unlike older versions, the harvest process is via arthroscopic visualized direct bone aspiration.

There’s some studies (included one below) that suggest a reduced “re-tear” rate that could potentially save some patients another trip to the OR.

This is another aspect of surgery that should be considered in the regional plan.

Very cool stuff. Makes me appreciate being connected.

Block ONN and enjoy.

Effects of applying platelet-rich plasma during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials - Scientific Reports Because of its healing properties, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has been applied to the bone–tendon interface during arthroscopic rotator cuff repair to improve surgical outcomes. However, its effects remain ambiguous. Therefore, we conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the ef...

Headed to Panama City for the 4th annual Society for Opioid Free Anesthesia conference.

This society is dedicated towards providing anesthesia strategies to reduce or eliminate opioid exposures to surgical patients. Since ultrasound guided regional is an important part of this- Twin Oaks supports and plays a small role!

Looking forward to seeing colleagues hearing and presenting new ideas on this front.

Role of carotid corrected flow time and peak velocity variation in predicting fluid responsiveness: a systematic review and meta-analysis 07/05/2024

More evidence that carotid scans can be predictive of fluid responsiveness and potentially post induction hypotension.

Role of carotid corrected flow time and peak velocity variation in predicting fluid responsiveness: a systematic review and meta-analysis Dynamic parameters used for predicting fluid responsiveness require special equipment and are minimally invasive. Therefore, recent interest in the use of carotid artery ultrasound parameters, such as carotid corrected flow time (FTc) and peak velocity ...

For the 7th year in a row, Twin Oaks was invited to present advanced regional techniques to the University of South Florida’s Advanced Pain Program.

The legendary Andy Biegner and I presented more complex ultrasound guided techniques like Trigeminal, occipital, facial, trigger point, stellate ganglion and more!

The CAMLs center for advanced learning amd simulation was designed for such topics and is always inspiring. Special thanks to John Maye- program director for the continued invitatuon to play a small role in their education, and a special appearance from Michelle Canale PD of the Anesthesia program. Special thanks also to support from sponsors
like Avanos and Pacira.

Great weekend of current Spinal and Epidural techniques at 100 North with Twin Oaks Anesthesia Services. Attendees from all over the country enjoyed current trends if peer reviewed published evidenced based practice, learned ultrasound guidance and pain control for cases that involve neuraxial techniques.

Evals consistently stated that it was the best conference they’d ever attended, and they especially liked the clinical stories and a little humor!! Toping the list was topics of both opioid and non-opioid adjunts to local anesthetics for neuraxial techniques. So thanks to all that participated in this essential technique to our practice!!

Twin Oaks faculty Deanna Kline, Jeff Tieder, Erik Rauch, John Craig Vana, Chantelle Padilla, Bill Brade (toughing it out despite recent knee surgery), and Jonathan Kline made sure everyone had plenty of hands on practice with covered topics (and even some that weren’t on the schedule).

Special appearance of our therapy dog Rocky Blue!!

10 Things to know about CRNAs

Did You Know?

The CRNA credential originated in 1956, nearly 100 years into the profession’s history

CRNAs practice in every setting anesthesia is delivered, including operating rooms and obstetrical delivery rooms; the offices of dentists, podiatrists, ophthalmologists, plastic surgeons; and pain management specialists; and in the U.S. military

CRNAs are the only anesthesia professionals with critical care experience before beginning formal anesthesia education

Today, CRNAs have full practice authority in every branch of the military and are the primary providers of anesthesia care to U.S. military personnel on the front lines, navy ships, and aircraft evacuation teams around the globe

Currently, CRNAs may practice in 22 U.S. states and Guam without physician supervision

CRNA preparation requires 7–8.5 years of education and experience

All residents entering an accredited CRNA program must be enrolled in a doctoral program

Graduates of nurse anesthesia programs have an average of 9,369 hours of clinical experience, including 733 hours during their baccalaureate nursing program, 6,032 hours as a critical care registered nurse, and 2,604 hours during their nurse anesthesia program
