Some thoughts on the new year and reflections on 2023.
I’ve never chosen a word for the year, it’s just never come to me, and I tend to live in the moment with little planning. We spent last week in the mountains of Colorado, taking our youngest two back to our beginnings as a married couple. It’s where Mick and I met, married, and spent the first year of our lives as a married couple. I guess this journey backward had me looking forward at how time shapes our lives. It was good to see where we came from and where we started, and I am grateful to be where we are now. Looking back is not always a pleasant journey, but I got to see how far we have come, and the life that we’ve built together is such a blessing. The words that I’ve been thinking about as I look ahead are intention and people. This year, I want to be more intentional in what I do. Each decision we make has a greater effect on our lives, and I want to be intentional about where I aim my future. People - I am an introvert and very comfortable being alone. This year, I want to lean into my community. I am grateful for the beautiful community I am part of and want to soak it in and give more.
I don’t want to talk about grief. But unfortunately, 2023 was a year of deep grief and loss with the shocking su***de of my little brother. The grief shaped my year and most of my days in one way or another. As I stepped into 2023, I had no idea that 11 days later, we would lose such a bright light in our family. Every day of last year was marked with some level of grief and a deep sense of loss. I longed to get to the one-year mark where I thought my grief would level out. But as I approach 1/11, I feel a deeper sadness as each day that passes is more time that we haven’t had my brother. That’s one year without him. Thinking ahead at two, five, ten years without him seems unbearable. The loss just grows.
Babbling continues in comments…
Really looking forward to 2024 and the projects we are working on. The theme is lots of bold, BOLD color 💥 Cannot wait to share!

One of my favorites from our Spiller Lane Project. Big, cozy chaise upholstered in the softest Mohair makes for the best spot to curl up by the fire and enjoy the view.

Spiller Lane Guest Bedroom
This bedroom has wonderful light. The whole house had plantation shutters which we removed in favor of drapes that could pull back all the way to enjoy the views and sunshine 🌞

At the heart of what we do here is creating a space that feels like home. A place that welcomes and embraces. A place that is warm and hospitable. A place where you can relax and be cozy. A place that can be used and worn not just viewed and admired. We want every house we design to feel like home. To be experienced as home. We want the pieces we choose to last and age with you, to become part of your home. That means real wood, stone, natural/quality materials, and timeless pieces. We want you to experience beauty and when you are away to have a longing for home. We never want it to feel stuffy or too precious. We want you to kick up your feet or curl up in a chair and feel rest. We hope that it is your own private paradise and refuge for others.

Moody beach weekend
Daughter bedroom at our Spiller Lane project. This space was designed for our clients adult daughter that visits from out of state. It was designed to be a simple, neutral, and relaxing space. The bench is a place to set luggage for a quick weekend. My favorite bed from is covered in the softest boucle, an easy place to lay your head. Handmade lamp by yours truly

First look at Her Primary Bathroom at our Spiller Lane project. Walls are floor-to-ceiling honed Thassos marble and floors are Calacatta marble. This space is much quieter than his. She wanted a luxurious spa feel and I think we delivered 😉 More shots of this bathroom next week 🤍🤎🤍

New Work :: His Primary Bathroom at our Spiller Lane project. We continued the deep blues (see last post) throughout his space. Here the bathroom was covered head to toe in blue ombré glass tile. We chose 5 custom grout colors to follow the ombré for a seamless look. It’s all about the little details that make this space so luxurious. Custom walnut cabinetry warm up the room. Stay tuned for more shots of this bathroom 💙🩵💙

Very happy to introduce our Spiller Lane project. This is 1 of 2 primary suites. His primary was designed with a jewel box in mind. The blue crocodile wallpaper is backdrop to orange velvet and walnut woods creating a rich color scheme. This has to be one of my favorite spaces.

Bardon the dust…😖
We made this kitchen so much more open and comfortable than the previously tight and dimly lit room. We brought in some nice blues that pair well with the wood countertop on the island in the middle.
