I'm still not ok after the other night. I am unsure what the future of this page (and business in general) will hold. rant upcoming at the end. No matter, I definitely needed to get these two rockstars on here, already way later than i intended. One relatively new model, one absolutely new, and they killed. I couldn't have been more impressed with how they did. Lots of laughing, sooo many shots ruined by outbursts. So the best kind of shoot, and I can't wait to do more.
As for myself I'm also pretty damn happy with the night. Aside from just switching to Sony and having had no chance until then to put it to practical use, this was the first time I used off camera flash in well over a year. I think we all did ok. Anywho... enjoy.
As for that rant I promised, assuming anyone is even still reading and not just oogling the pictures. For everyone that jumped in with such kind, amazing, and supportive words after the other night, you are what keep me going. It's not easy. In 25 years (many predating digital photography) in Manhattan I never once had to deal with any inkling of the rumor sh*tshow that is Wichita. The second I moved down here I became a target. How exactly does one deal with that??? I'm still weighing if it's even worth it. We shall see I guess.

I love when a shoot is an absolute home run. Tonight we definitely swung for the fence. And yeah, I am totally teasing and building up to it. I'm not sharing anything yet but ohhh wow are these incredible. Stay tuned!

This shoot is going to be magic...

Taking advantage of this nice weather (while it lasts). Scoping out location for shoot this week.

A bit over a week ago I was contacted to photograph a funeral (multiple parts of it, rather). Honestly, it was hard. I mean, I have done pretty much every kind of event photography imaginable so it wasn't difficult in a technical sense. But emotionally it was extremely taxing. First off, I felt like an absolute vo**ur, snapping pictures in people's faces in their worst, most inconceivably painful time. And things like this always make a person think deep thoughts about their own life and fragile mortality. Throw in a little unresolved stuff about my own mother's passing a while back and yeah... it was not easy. But it was also magical. It was the ultimate celebration of life. I'm honored that I was asked.

Having technical issues so I can't do much with these yet, but I figured I'd share a sneaky peek at the badass that was today.

This past year has been really hard. Jobs were lost, milestone events were canceled, and families weren't able to get together.
Families grow and change and pictures are a wonderful way to document that. With Mother's Day coming up we would like to do something special. We would like to offer a free family photo session to some who wouldn't be able to otherwise.
