BIG announcement!! đș UCC is opening a new chapter! Based in NW UT County, the Conexa Choirs will be a different format, with satellite groups âconnectingâ to create their concerts, including a daytime/homeschool group and an after-school group. It will be directed by Melody Paskett (who will also continue as Asst Director in PG.) Please spread the word to your Lehi-Saratoga Springs friends!! Our Story
Background:
Genevieve has enjoyed music and performance since she was a young girl, earning solos and lead roles during elementary, middle, and high school. She performed several choral and solo works in high school, community, university, small ensemble, and a ca****la choirs. She studied vocal performance at CSU, Chico for two years under the direction of revered soprano Dr. Ying Yeh before settling down to raise a family in 2000 (which she still holds as one of the best decisions she has ever made). She soon joined a womenâs community ensemble âOne Acchordâ in 2000 and enjoyed honing her skills in performing and directing pieces within a variety of music genres to include some of her favorites: folk, jazz, and musical theatre. Starting in 2004, friends began soliciting advice and formal lessons which she has continued on and off ever since. In 2008, she founded a non-profit womenâs ensemble in the Boise area titled âOn THAT Note,â in which she directed, choreographed, collaborated, and performed. She has directed church choirs at the elementary age (four years), adult congregational choir (three years), and held music advisory positions at the congregational and regional level. She has also enjoyed composing and arranging music throughout the years using Finale. She has been blessed with professional music instruction throughout the years from a number of professional associates through private lessons, choral direction, and mutual collaboration. Given her background, she has a great passion for interfaith and community performance that uplifts and inspires audiences. Since moving to the Utah Valley, she has participated in the Salt City Rock Choir, co-directs the Lehi Chorale, and is founder/director of the emerging ensemble Heart & Soul.
Lessons:
Each lesson will begin with various warm-ups to assess vocal health, range, and agility. Students may focus on one to three pieces at a time and are expected to practice daily. Students are expected to comply with music copyright laws and purchase their own music, preferably with a corresponding accompaniment in mp3 or CD format. (Disclaimer: I am a voice teacher, not an accompanist. This helps me focus on what you are doing rather than on what my fingers are not doing!)
