With the generous support of our community, MCFA is providing $5,000 storm recovery grants to 43 small businesses on the working waterfront!
January's storms may be a distant memory for some, but for many who live and work on the coast, there are daily challenges and hurdles arising from the losses these storms incurred - damaged wharves, lost gear, and decreased points of access to name a few.
While state and federal funding was made available, many smaller businesses who were impacted by the storms were not eligible. As part of our commitment to help fishing businesses and coastal communities thrive, MCFA held an open application process, which received 43 applications. We are so glad to be able to fund everyone who applied!
Thank you to the hundreds of individuals and businesses who came together to make these Storm Recovery grants possible - we are deeply grateful for every gift, grant, benefit dinner, and amazingly creative community fundraiser. We would like to extend a special thank you to the Manton Foundation,Maine Beer Company, Cook's Lobster & Ale House, Farm Credit East, ACA, Maine Community Foundation, Maine Lobster Community Foundation, and Maine Island Trail Association who all went above and beyond to help.
