Do you know a man who has battled cancer? There’s an amazing men’s support group called Man Up to Cancer that can help them deal with all the heavy stuff that comes with the disease. This week, Undertow is filming a Man Up to Cancer retreat at a camp in Pennsylvania. 200 dudes coming together, being kids again, bonding, and telling their stories. It’s a beautiful thing. It’s also a personal thing as I have my own cancer story.
Please make sure you get checked. It saved my life and could save yours, too. And share this post with any man who may need a little support in their journey. ❤️
It’s my first time sitting on a tub while filming 🛁
You go, Auggie! Can't stop. Won't stop.
Today is World UFO day. Years ago, I canoed the Allagash River…the deepest reaches of the Maine woods, and the site of one of the most famous / weirdest alien abduction encounters. 4 men on a fishing trip in 1976, beamed up, subjected to medical experiments aboard a spaceship. A book, The Allagash Abductions, tells the 1970s tale of terror. Or was the kidnapping really just a hoax that fooled the nation? Under hypnosis, the 4 friends contradicted each other’s accounts, and decades later, one came forward to say they were never probed aboard a ship…that it was all a narrative for financial gain.
My buddy and I never did see any aliens on our canoe trip. Just a bunch of moose. Have you ever seen anything mysterious in the sky? Or are you a skeptic?
Ahhhhhh
It's hotter than Miami this week here in Maine. 🥵
Caught this person stretching on the rocks at 5:15a this morning. It made me yawn 🥱
Mt. Agamenticus, in York, Maine, is a mere 692 ft. It may be small, but it has some cool history. It was a ski area in the 60's and 70's and still has remnants of the chairlift, t-bar, and rope tow. I've been filming a series of Southern Maine trails for The Maine Beaches and headed to Mt. A early this morning to capture paths in the golden hour. I planned to drive up the access road, but it wasn't open yet. I'm passionate about hiking, but loathe running. I did it. I ran like the wind up that tiny 692 ft mountain to get what I needed...before that golden hour was gone, and before it was too late.
Have you ever been to Flo’s Hot Dogs in York, Maine? A tiny shack serving up amazing hot dogs and ceilings so low you may just hit your head. At the Trolley Musuem in Kennebunk today filming in their new building that houses an awesome model train that features a ton of iconic Maine places. Stephen King’s house and Flo's Hot Dogs are my faves. Cool!
Wow! It feels really good to have produced video content to help Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine raise a ton of money to support matches like Molly and Adriana. We’ve grown to love working with BBBS and telling stories of many amazing Bigs and Littles over the years.
Meet Teddy. This special boy lives without eyes and melts so many hearts. Teddy's job today is helping the doctors at Maine Veterinary Medical Center make videos that teach pet parents how to give their dogs subcutaneous fluids. You go, Teddy! 🥰
This massive buoy washed up in Wells, Maine after several really big storms. It was impressive...drawing people from all over the Northeast to get those perfect golden hour photo and selfies galore.
Feeling really honored to tell the stories of how these big brothers and big sisters have been life changing for so many kids in Maine. There are some children who’ve been on a waiting list for over a year…waiting for their match.
Super cool to have some our footage featured in this Altium production.
Thought Pluto TV's couch potato ad was amusing. Did you have any Super Bowl faves?

I wish there wasn't a need to make this video. Men need to know it's okay to not be okay.
Three drones bzzzzing (one filming) for an Outreach Robotics production. Who has Advil?
Remember Chicken Run? One of my favs! Chicken Run 2 is coming. Fascinating how the creators still use painstaking stop motion more so than computer animation.
Asher is a super sweet kid. Right now there's 58 more littles like him waiting for mentors in Southern Maine. I've heard a lot of people say they'd love to be a Big Brother/Sister, but they're afraid of the time commitment. One of my interviews said he spends just 3-4 hours a week with his little. ❤️
“If this dog dies, I’m going home, quitting my job, and I’m going to kill myself.”
Not many people outside of the veterinary industry realize there’s a mental health crisis within the profession. Su***de rates are at an extreme high. We, as pet parents, take our pets to the doc and expect our animals to be fixed, saved, cured, and have it be affordable. It’s a lot of weight on a veterinarian.
NOMV (Not One More Vet) is an organization dedicated to supporting our vets and preventing su***de. I asked the president of NOMV if she had her own story…and her response stopped me in my tracks and put everything in perspective.
When thinking about purchasing a new product, what would you trust more: A sales pitch or a happy review? Try asking good customers for a testimonial for your business. Ask, and most of the time people are happy to help 😀
I don't know about you, but trimming my dog's nails is like a WWF wrestling match. What a good boy this one is.
IPA a Lot in the Yard and Crotch Sniffin' Ale....I found a couple cold ones for your dog on this hot summer day.
Mattie had kidney disease and sadly died. But see how Mattie's family has stepped up and made it their mission to help dogs who suffer. https://www.mattiestreats.com/
Just when I thought cigarette advertising was banned…this local candy shop pulls through, giving my third grade kid a taste of freedom. 🚬
Kids reading to cats. It's how campers at Animal Welfare Society are soothing hopeful pets. Maybe the cutest thing I've ever seen. 🐈⬛ 📚
We're hardwired to be macho and tough out our sadness.
Stay; For Life is de-stigmatizing men's mental health issues, a cause we feel very strongly about and are so happy to support. It's ok to not be ok...if you know someone who's not, reach out and potentially save a life.
His name is Captain Love. Striking poses for the camera is his thing. Seriously.

Experts say all this rain is helping to keep those browntail caterpillar numbers down. Also, keep your outdoor lights off at night - less itching!
Cool, rainy weather may be putting a dent in browntail moth population The Maine Forest Service recently observed high mortality of caterpillars on Eagle Island, off the coast of Harpswell. But they've yet to see large die-offs on the mainland.
Nerd alert: Did you know that some people who fly drones are required to be FAA certified pilots? Sounds silly just to fly a toy in the sky, right? You go through rigorous training, take a test, learn about weather patterns, restricted fly zones, airport operations, reading sectional charts, what you can and can’t do in public/private spaces, and how loads can impact your drone. Who needs to go through this daunting process? Essentially, anyone who gets paid to fly. Recreational pilots (who aren’t paid) do not need to be FAA licensed…however they need to take what’s called a TRUST online safety course that’s free.
Keeping up with the ever-changing (sometimes weird) laws over the years, and hearing some of the bizarre stories of how some pilots have lost their licenses has been interesting for sure.
It’s like a horror movie. The browntail caterpillars rising from their slumber. Emerging from 116 nests to give you rashes. But stopped in their tracks, plucked out of the sky with our drone, meeting their deaths in soapy water. 🐛
