To Our Forever Friend, Bruce Thomas

In honor of our CCS Office Manager, Mrs. Kathy Thomas, and her family, we wish to extend a special remembrance of her dear husband, Bruce, who is now in the radiant presence of King Jesus! Bruce served Covenant Christian School as a school board member, parent of 3 CCS graduates, school coach, and the driver of our first school bus! Thank you, Bruce, for the many ways you so unselfishly served the staff, parents, and students at CCS!

Bruce's obituary
Bruce Merrill Thomas, aged 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday April 21, 2024. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents Luther & Iris Thomas, his brothers Brad, Doug, Jim, and his sisters Anita & Becky. He will be remembered as a loyal Husband by his Wife of 47 years Kathleen Thomas, a doting role model to His 3 Children: Joel (Molly) Thomas, Emily (Darrell) Riggs, and Ben (Amber) Thomas, as well as a loving grandpa/pawpaw to his 5 grandchildren: Connor, Brennan, & Leo Thomas, and Natalie & Allison Riggs and a loving brother to his sister Christine Thomas. Bruce is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bruce was born on August 7th, 1950 in Paxton, Illinois to Luther & Iris Thomas. He joined the United States Air Force in 1969 and was active in Vietnam until he was honorably discharged in 1973, where he eventually found his way back to Aurora, Illinois. He surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 1974, which would mark the beginning of his lifelong mission to be a servant to all those he encountered. He met his future wife, Kathleen, at Mustard Seed Jesus House in 1975, and they were married on August 28th, 1976. They were blessed with their 3 children Joel, Emily and Ben, where he wholeheartedly took on the role of dad. Bruce is described by his children as dependable, humble, supportive and encouraging. He never missed an opportunity to coach or cheer on his kids in any sport they pursued. Bruce was a role model in his work ethic and his unwavering faith.
Bruce was a friend to all he encountered – always lending a hand for those in need, being a reliable confidant, and a mighty prayer warrior. He leaves behind an unforgettable legacy in his community and church for his steadfast dedication to his faith, his love for his family, and his Chicago sports teams.
Please join us in a Celebration of Life for Bruce on May 25th, 2024 at 10 am – 11:30 am at Highpoint Church at 2301 Tanner Rd. North Aurora,IL – an open house luncheon will follow immediately after the service. We encourage you to wear your favorite Cubs or Chicago Sports team shirt/jersey to celebrate the life of Bruce.

High School and 7th grade students at CCS participated in Wood Art with carpenter and sculptor, Mr. John Yoeckel!

Leap Frog stopped by to see the students at Covenant Christian school on February 29, 2024! He shared his gummy frogs with us and his latest leap frog dance! Thank-you Leap Frog!!

Covenant Christian School Fine Arts Festival 2024 was a fantastic celebration of the God-given artistic gifts of our students!!!

CCS students in grades 7-10 artistically celebrated with Mr. Joe Petit, Graphic Designer at Petfish Promotion as he instructed them on how to design their own Fantastic Friday T-shirts! Thank-you, Mr. Petit, for making Friday FANTASTIC for our students!

Worship Wednesday was wonderful!

We love our Pastors! It was a blessed day on Friday to host our students pastors for a luncheon. Thank you to our parents for your generosity in supplying the food!

These wonderful busy students! Last week grades 1-6 went to a retirement home to bless the residents. This week was our first basketball game of the year, great job!

Our 2023 Christmas concerts were wonderful! Excellent job everyone!

Seeing our students being active in prayer is such a blessed thing to behold! ❤️

My yearbook club is looking for local sponsors to help alleviate the costs of each book for our students. Avoid the due date. We are looking to be in print by late April.

This week our students took part in "Reach Out and Give", a way we give back to the community and others. Our 3rd and 4th graders were able to blessed veterans with a visit, cards and prayers. It was such a blessed time, a heart melter! These kids are amazing!❤️

What a blessing! We were honored to sing with Judson University and their civic orchestra! Our students did an amazing job!
