FREE BROWNIE. I know, I know, it's not BElievable. COMMUNITY RUCK HIKE & PICNIC. Nothing is BEtter than some Colorado skies, a good trail, a GORUCK and a picnic with nourishment! All three will BE going down on the 30th March! Ruck with me - weight is optional but I encourage you to try one of my GORUCKS if you don't have one of your own - and give rucking a try. After rucking on Independence Trail at Pence Park, we'll picnic together at the top with some great views & nourishing Just BE Kitchen wraps and desserts. This is a great opportunity to give rucking a try if you're curious (Think Zone 2 cardio, gaining strength, increasing metabolic flexibility) all the while having fun with a great group of humans. TEFF FLOUR. For the first time ever we have introduced an ancient grain on a permanent menu item! You can now choose "Teff Flour Toast" on our loved SIMPLICITY 2-Egg Plate! Teff Flour is an ancient grain that comes from Ethiopia and is completely 100% Gluten Free. And don't worry, this grain option is well marked on the menu in case grains don't agree with you! I personally love the "rye-like" taste and sweetness of this toast and it's been a much more popular addition than we anticipated!

BREADCRUMBS VS ENTIRE LOAF OF BREAD. Do you ever want “more” but you're not exactly sure what “more” is? It can show up in our relationships, in work, in our health, in our lifestyle - any and all of the above.
I've decided that depending on where you are in life, and what you want, you have the choice to take the breadcrumbs or the entire loaf - which do you want?
What that bread looks like differs for all of us - for example in relationships, the entire loaf may BE a long distance relationship that offers time and freedom, for others its moving in with their partners, for others marriage is desired & for others it's a conscious relationship or for some, it's ALL OF THE ABOVE. Some of us want a loaf of Sourdough, some want Olive, some what 7 Seeds bread. That's not the point - the point is: Do you want the breadcrumbs, or do you want the entire damn loaf?
I've come to realize for the things that I truly desire in MY life (it's different for all of us), I have to work a muscle to say “no” to just breadcrumbs. A hard AF, screaming loud “NO.” Why? BEcause I want the Universe to know that I mean business. I'm not going to nibble on breadcrumbs WAITING for the loaf of bread. That's not how it works.
I've got to hunker down and commit to what I want - so when the toasted, buttered Sourdough breadcrumbs appear - the ones that look nicer than all the others to me - I STILL have to say “NO” because it's NOT the loaf of bread I desire. I can't say “yes” to a partner that wants different outcomes in life than me, or an employee who has great skills but not the values I desire, or a career opportunity that is fun but commits a lot of my time & doesn't deliver on my non-negotiables. Otherwise, I'm telling the Universe I'm ok with breadcrumbs.
And that's not the case. I want the whole, dang, delicious, gluten free loaf of Sourdough dripping with salted butter.
You get what I'm saying here? Go get your loaf of bread. Savor every single bite. Brush the breadcrumbs aside.

PROGRESS. When I awoke early this am, I had this feeling of "stucknation." (Is that a word? It's a Jen-word). There are a few areas in both work and personal that I haven't been progressing in the way I desire, conversations with the same outcomes, different conversations, same outcomes, different process or technology gets implemented, same outcomes occur. Ever feel that way?
Tony Robbins says that progress is necessary for growth & fulfillment - and I concur.
I'm not a quitter, but if I don't feel progress with my efforts, it can manifest as boredom, restlessness & at times, the closing of my heart to dedicate to a situation. As I arrived at my tennis match, it was 5:55am - an angel number sequence on my phone. It's a BEautiful message from the Angels that positive change is coming. It also means that the change is big, quick - and can be internal or external in nature (the change of BElief patterns or stories or a change in career, relationships etc).
As I said thank you to the Angels for communicating with me, I suddenly realized that even in the face of a lack of progress - there's progress. The knowing (or unknowing) inside of us on circumstances, events, relationships, conversations - is progress in and of itself. Knowing what can/can't BEcome aligned, what does/doesn't require change, what is/isn't fulfilling for you IS progress if you can look at it as a way to understand yourself BEtter.
And as we all know, understanding ourselves BEtter, improves our ability to PROGRESS in all areas of life. I made a mental note after tennis of all the areas of progress I was grateful for, even if its not manifesting in the way I envisioned. Progress doesn't always look the way we think it should - sometimes it's soft, sometimes it's loud. Sometimes it's leaps, sometimes it's small shifts. How are you progressing today?
BETTING ON YOURSELF. When I started Just BE in 2015 (we didn't open till 2017 but I started the Company earlier), I couldn't get a loan. I couldn't get an investor. I had friends that told me I wasn't just nuts, I couldn't do it. I had potential landlords tell me no way they would rent to someone who didn't have experience in the industry & one told me to go get a job at a restaurant to learn something.
I was also in a low place. I had lost a partner to Cancer, after learning he had been unfaithful for sometime. I altered my social circle, due to feeling multiple layers of betrayal. I had my car stolen, had to sell my home in England in a flash sale and was in a shareholder dispute at my former firm. Suffice to say, it was "good times." The death of a part of your life, is inevitably the birth of something else.
Even in the lowest of lows & in a precarious financial situation I had never been faced before, I took a bet on myself.
I opened the restaurant on about 6 credit cards, a high interest equipment loan and a belief that I would be able to figure it out. I put my own money in after the flash sale of my sweet London home, and made it work. I dove into healing unlike any other time in life, looked hard at how I'd ignored signals of unfaithfulness, and allowing another man (my boss) to break boundaries too - AND, I take full ownership for how I showed up in that time.
When the pandemic hit, I literally thought "If I can get through that, I'll get through anything" and I rode COVID relatively well. I continued to bet on myself because I believed I could steer the Company through it.
Now, we are expanding - and we are in a recession, I don't care what anyone says - we are. I'm betting on myself again.
Don't give up on yourself - yes, you may have doubt. Yes, you may question what is happening. You may even be in a fetal position with your heart pounding looking for a sign that you're not nuts. And then you move through that and are on a high. Then the doubt comes again. It's normal. But if you're not going to bet on yourself, who else will?
So - let's go Boulder. We got this. I'm betting on myself and Just BE Kitchen.
RELATING. How we connect, communicate or understand others. How we speak our truth, hold back, interpret other’s actions or words…How simple and innocent actions, emoji’s, texts, words, tone, phrases, teasing can inadvertently create giant assumptions and/or conversely how we attach meaning to these things.
We are bumbling around trying to RELATE to one another. We get it “wrong” – often. We assume. We judge. We give space. We take the next step forward with our heart open. We feel stung, then we retreat, heart closed. We talk, we hold back, or we use words that may have the unintended outcome. We are trying, and at times, we aren’t. We are generous – sometimes too much so? I question because we often let things pass that are said (or not said), that fester.
In work situations we struggle to RELATE – others find it hard to have honest conversations about expectations or accountability. In love, we find it hard to speak honestly about things that create discomfort. Or one person is open, the other reserved. Neither right nor wrong, just trying to RELATE. In families, we let things go that are said in an effort to “keep the peace” which disturbs the peace within us.
We RELATE to others based on our own wounds and fears, our own healing and courage. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that I too, am still figuring it out. I coached my leaders this week about RELATING to others with compassion, but still honoring their boundaries. And yet, in my personal life, I allowed my own boundaries to be broken.
