Our mission-based approach differentiates us from other programs and partnering with this spring gave our students an opportunity to highlight how art, fashion and music can come together in the gift of storytelling. Eight of our sophomore design students took inspiration from artwork created by four military veterans. CreatiVets’ goal is to offer opportunities for relief and healing for the men and women who have sacrificed so much for our country. Thanks to the US vets and everyone serving in the armed forces!

Our fourth-year, Studio VI architecture students closed out the spring semester with a final exhibition showcase hosted in the Belmont Innovation Labs. We are so grateful that so many members of our Belmont community were able to attend and witness the work of our students!

"Designing for the Blue Zones" is a project in which our students leveraged the Social Determinants of Health framework to exhibit three evidence-based designs for how to cultivate the health and well-being in North Nashville:
1. The Store: a design for a new location for The Store that addresses food insecurity.
2. First Community Church: a design for a site owned by this historic black church where the new Store will be located.
3. Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Corridor: a design for reimagining the larger neighborhood around The Store and site.

Our fourth year Architecture students have been working on an interesting and complex project on Buchanan Street in Nashville. Students have been partnering with an impact investor who’s trying to get a zoning change for property he’s purchasing on this site.

Student displayed their finished projects in our Gabhart studios on Friday, and the projects did not disappoint!

We're so close to end of the spring semester, and we can't wait to see all the final projects that will be displayed in the coming weeks. 📐 Keep going, O'More! You've got this!

History of Architecture in the US students braved the wind and rain to get a detailed introduction to a local Nashville site: Fort Negley.

Mary Miller, project lead at led students on a tour of the grounds where they learned about the site's complicated history and the current work HDLA is doing to implement a master plan that will make that history more visible and the landscape more accessible.

Architecture faculty, Anthony Monica and Barry Ballinger, took their talents abroad by presenting at the 14th Annual Constructed Environment Conference in Vienna, Austria! They were able to share their work with academics and professionals in Architecture, Interior Design, Planning, and other related fields.

Barry's presentation, "Planning and Politics", discussed Architecture and Social Movements. Anthony presented on the project, "The Frosty Morn: A New Model for Conceptualizing Community Design Projects through the Lens of Education, Social Impacts, Sustainability, and the Adaptive Reuse of Existing Building Infrastructure" in his session that he titled, "Adapting and Improving."
