The Wrench Woman
I love cars. I love racing them, working on them, studying them, and helping people out with theirs.
I don't know which is worse, working in the dark or working in the heat. Ugh.
β¨πWednesdays R4 Wheels πππ»
It's a raging success and it's only the 2nd week! πππ
π§βπ§Thanks to all the participants so far. 3 in the first class and 4 in the 2nd. ππ§π§ Y'all kicked ass. π§¨
π§How to change a tire and cleaning corrosion on battery posts plus so many other aspects of cars were discussed. Cabin and air filter checks, what are spark plugs and where, where is the oil dip stick, and on and on. The 2 hours have been jammed packed with infoπ€©
βΊοΈπCondensing the info is what made my automotive radio show so successful. Had to get to the point, not over explain and keep it fun and digest able. I'm a natural at passing on this auto obsession and so thankful to all who let me. πππ―

Beyond a handshake, do not force a hug on me. I'm your mechanic, not your girlfriend. In fact, don't force anything on anyone except kale. Yes kale. Ty.
I had a blast diagnosing this parasitic draw for Ashley, one of my amazing lady customers here in Asheville. Don't tell those old, grumpy techs. π
Wearing a dress to turn a wrench is perfectly ok. Just turn the wrench. πππ
Raced VIR this weekend. Paul Newman called it Heaven on Earth. It is a renowned track worldwide and spoken in the same breathe as the Nurburgring.
This is my second time to track and 1st time racing this car, a hopped up '06 BMW E90. Crazy I would be doing this on one of the most challenging tracks there is. I'm so lucky to live 3 hours from it.
So many people wrecked Saturday that they ended the race. It was raining heavily and this track has some very scary, switchback turns. I was registered to race but couldn't make it. Thank goodness I had so much trouble getting the hydraulic clutch line on. I knew it was for a reason. I could of had a very serious wreck considering my experience with the car and all.
My first stint was awful. I had so many pass me. I annnounced it loud and clear at the debriefing held after each stint that I was having hell. I was loosing the rear end in turns like crazy and had to go super slow. In the straights I could move fast but whatever. Plus, they had novice and advanced running together as if it wasn't challenging enough all ready. Some of those guys are as****es for real.
Turned out I forgot to adjust my tire pressure. Way too high. Thanks to my friend, Lara Vernon owner of Rare Exotic Vehicles for some hella good race advice, I was able to get it rolling so much better. I could focus more on racing and not trying to keep the car under control. Now I could "see" the lines.
The 3rd stint was a small improvement. I was still bracing for a slip but the car was holding. The brakes are awesome and I could wait way later to brake before a turn.
Finally, the last run. I put it all together and made some big improvements. I passed a lot of people and really picked up the pace. It was exhilarating. After all the crap I went thru to get there, the release was so huge when that checkered flag came out, that I started to cry. "I love racing. I'm meant for racing" sobbing like a baby. Lol. People say don't post videos of you crying. IDGAF, it 's hilarious when I do it.
Thanks everyone. Much love.
I got you, girl, lemme get that wrench. Thank you to this sweet lady who let me hepl her with a starter issue. It failed my diag. Got her a lifetime one from O'reillys for $140 and all set in her '97 Astro Van. β€οΈπ
A WIRE BRUSH fixing a No Start issue. I keep a wire brush in my main toolbox. Don't leave home without one, folks. Never know when starter bolts weren't tightened up because of dried up Loctite. ππππ§βπ§
Little Maserati action with my friend Lara Vernon Rare Exotic Vehicles here in Asheville. 150k new in 2011 now 30s. Come and get it!
Loved helping my nephew learn how to replace spark plugs. They were past due. They are usually ready 10k miles before the recommended replace mileage. Worn plugs make the coils work harder and can cause them to stop working. Also, the richer fuel can melt your catalytic converter. πππ
My guy Roman getting me my favorite type of gift. TOOLS!
I'm easy, just tools. I'll take gift cards to all tool and parts stores, too. Lol. ππππβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Bought an Infiniti QX56. It is so fast! Just like my Titan was back in the day. Remember calling it that, Mike Harben and Stan Black? Lol. That 5.6 is such a great engine. Legendary.
So now I have a trifecta of the best Japanese vehicles ever. 240SX, Matrix, Prius and now this behemoth. All dream cars.
Roman Kelly and I are sharing it but I must thank him dearly for letting me influence the decision.
My dad bought the Titan because he listened to me. He bought Boo a Quest. This is just a few of the Nissans we have had in the family. Aside from the CVT, which have never owned, Nissan's are the best of the Japanese offerings if you value power and reliability.
Car guys and gals will understand horse power and torque curves thru the rpm's. Nissan is the very best at creating an equal curve of both that keeps going up thru the curve at an equal rate. My KA engine is one of the most balanced engines that a respected tu er said he had ever dyno'ed.
Come at me.
Show'em, ladies! π€ππβ€οΈ
Congratulations to Sarah Bovy Racing Driver, Michelle Gatting and Rahel Frey! The Iron Dames go down in history as first all-female driving team to win in any FIA WEC category at the 8-Hours of Bahrain. Itβs their maiden win, in the last ever LMGTE Am race.

ScannerDanner and L1 Automotive Diagnostics and Programming gifted me a book and a Pico Scope. These guys and their wives really amazed me with their generosity and passion for diagnostics. Thank you, Keith, Paul, Kristen and Liz!! Forever grateful!
Big thanks to AWiA Roundtable Group Amazing Women in Automotive for making this happen. πππ§βπ§π§πͺπ©βοΈ
My new Endoscope! So far I love it. It's a borescope that uses your phone. Shenanigans to come. Lol. πππ€
Wednesday, I'll be diagnosing a possible blown head gasket with this scope. π¬οΈ
I'm going to look in each cylinder thru the spark plug hole and see if any of the piston heads are real cleanπ.
That is an indicator of coolant leaking onto it and cleaning it off.
2005 Civic that had radiator damage due to an impact.π
It overheated π₯and then the radiator was replaced. Few months later and it's overheating after 10 minutes of driving.
It passed an exhaust gas test so I'm going to try this new endoscope. You can have a head gasket leak and it still pass that test but if it fails, π― head gasket.
Stay tuned! Yes, that is a pun. P. S. I know it' s not a medical scope but why not stick it in the holes in your face? π€£π€£
Reading from beginning to end this Service Manual for a 1998 Chrysler Sebring with some electrical issues. There is so much info to learn or refresh when going into a diagnostic situation. π€π―π
Wheel bearring action this morning. Get greasy.
Little exhaust gas testing for an overheating issue on an '05 Civic. This customer read the article in Mountain Xpress. So grateful for them publishing a Women in Business issue.
Here's the link to the local newspaper I'm featured in this week. π
Local women make strides in male-dominated industries You might think that Allison Walkerβs love of cars was handed down from a family member or mentor. βI've always been a car fanatic,β remembers Walker. βI would ask my friendsβ parents about their cars: βWhat kind of gas mileage are you getting? Do you have the four-cylinder or the six-cy...
Just because I'm a rare, chic gear head doesn't mean I'm fair game to hit on. Thanks to all the men who don't do this. To the ones that do, lmao. You couldn't of closed that door faster. This is my locksmith who asked me to go to dinner with him even though I mentioned my boyfriend several times. He ruined a professional relationship ship. π€¦ββοΈ
Look for the chrome turbo in the right rear. Best pic from FATF1
Maybe I'll get famous in Asheville now. I'm in the local press. I'm already getting a lot of messages for car work. Yayss!
See. There he is. I wished I could of got a picture with Scanner Danner of YouTube fame. Been a fan for a very long time. ππ€
