Too few girls are choosing to study computer science, which is foundational to many fields. We're addressing this early as a partner on the Children's Board of Hillsborough County ONEhillsborough initiative, where we're showing girls as young as 1st grade that they can be great at anything they do.
Check out 3 of our Hillsborough after school Coding Instructors learning the new elementary Game Design curriculum their teaching at 9 schools and parks in some of the County’s most underserved neighborhoods this fall. Two are our USF STEM Doctoral Fellows and one’s a local school teacher. All are expert at exposing youth to the power of code!
We've started recruiting for this summer's K-12 code camps by spending full days at schools teaching students to program Codey Rocky with Scratch based software by Makeblock. These new programmers are loving it, and so are we!!
