Sails, seats, awnings, Summer umbrellas: what would we do without canvas! Someone called the office this week, looking for help installing triangular sunshades. While not strictly architectural, we had a great conversation about Solar orientation, outdoor entertaining, and making sure the points of attachment wouldn’t pull the siding off the house. Original blueprints! From the 1920s. Harvard President lived in this beautiful property. I was called into consult on original detail as it’s undergoing restoration and expansion. The first step was to go find any existing documentation, and these blueprints were kindly provided by . Elements of the house were designed by architect and its Colonial Revival panels are to die for. Historic woodwork detail in houses like this will always come with a story, and this one did not disappoint! The new owner is getting an absolutely unique piece of Harvard history.
