Dolores Del Monte should have made her way to subscriber's homes by now along with the story of how she became a celebrated centerfold model written by Darin Krogh. It's not a story you hear every day, so be sure to check it out in the magazine, or in the link in the comments.

Logan Camporeale pens another set of Heroes and Scoundrels this time with Julia Davis Stuart as the hero philanthropic and civic leader, and scoundrel Lucille Dickey who was a beer parlor operator and, eventually, a killer.

Jay Kemble kicks off his 4-part series on the history of Rattlesnake Canyon that includes entertaining tales of hermits, mutes, gun slayers, and other dramatic characters.

Sharon De Mills-Wood shares the history of the Shadle Park Water Tower and other similar designs around the city.

John H. Richards shares the story of The Golden City, a lesser known contributing factor in Spokane's ability to endure and flourish despite a devastating fire and financial panic in its early history.

And you'll find other fascinating content, including that on the Psychiana Man from Moscow, Idaho--a great story about selling crazy excerpted from the book by author Brandon R. Shrand.

And Joe Palermo shares a darling essay on how Smokey the Bear became his therapist when he was a young boy.

Readers will find the latest Hero and Scoundrel by Logan Comporeale, along with a remembrance of WWII fighter pilot William Burns by Michael Gould.

Sharon De Mills-Wood takes us down Carnegie Library lane, and Chuck King shares about his journey riding the rails of Spokane Cable Railway in his recent episode of the King’s Guide.

John H. Richards writes about Charles A. Siringo, a cowboy spy with tales that will make your blood pressure rise and fall, and rise and fall.

Dorothy Stanaitis shares an adorable story about a childhood pet rooster, and history enthusiast Erika Deasy shares an excerpt from her book SISTER FLORA BILKISS - SPOKANE’S SOAPBOX REVELUTIONARY.

Legacy Businesses - Bozzi Media 16/02/2021

If you read enough history, you are bound to absorb a deep appreciation for resilience.

The team at Bozzi Media, who publishes Nostalgia Magazine along with Spokane Coeur d'Alene Living magazine, is giving our own resilience a whirl as we push through a brutal scenario where the owners/publishers of this company (Vince and Emily Bozzi) have both passed away due to complications association with COVID-19 leaving us a little numb and, still, in disbelief. Our business bank accounts have been frozen for nearly 8 weeks now, and other succession complications have arisen.

Our team has worked without pay—even using our own funds to keep aspects of the business up and running—since January 1. In spite of the challenges, we remain patient and committed to continuing the production of the publications we cherish creating as reflections of the best of our community.

We appreciate your patience as you await your February/March issue. It is in production and will be published and mailed out to our subscribers soon. Any of the subscription issues from the last issue should be remedied this time around, but if you have any questions, concerns, frustrations or feedback, please don’t hesitate to email our editor and interim publisher, Stephanie Regalado, at [email protected].

Thank you for the honor of your continued readership. None of this matters without you.

As an ode to other businesses who have worked their way through challenges and successes, we share some legacy business stories from the city magazine a few years ago.

In gratitude,
Stephanie, Kristi and the Bozzi Media team
