Fulton County Ohio Safe House for victims of domestic violence and children from Archbold, Delta, Lyons, Swanton, Fayette, Metamora, Wauseon and Fayette.
JJ Safe House was founded in 2015 with a goal to give back to the Fulton County community by providing a SafeHouse for women and children experiencing the traumatic effects of Domestic Violence. This would be the first and only Domestic Violence shelter in Fulton County, which covers a staggering 407 square miles. This is 100 square miles larger than New York City. For a local comparison, the City
of Toledo expands over 84 square miles. Help us create a battered women shelter for this community today! In 2015, there were 362 Domestic Violence calls to the Fulton County Sheriff’s 911 Department (Fulton County Sheriff, Roy Miller). The closest shelter is located in Defiance, Ohio which is 38.9 miles or 47 minutes from the eastern edge of Fulton County. Logistically that is not an option for a family to relocate with children. Our goal for 2016 is to assist both The Child and Family Advocacy Center located in Wauseon, Ohio and the Sheriff’s Department to fill gaps for Fulton County victims. We are in the process of providing hotel vouchers, meal vouchers and gas cards to put a “band-aid” on the immediate needs. Our ultimate goal is to build a shelter in either the Wauseon or Delta area. We will partner with the Child & Family Advocacy Center to provide therapy, counseling and legal services. We will also partner with local food pantries, clothing closets, and other non-profit agencies for referrals. We are seeking donations to fulfill the goal to build, lease or buy a home where we can house and rehabilitate families in a safe long-term environment. Our foundation will provide financials upon request.
