4th Grade learned about the skills it takes to be a veterinary technician. Thank you to Skyview for coming to give this presentation!

Kindergarteners did a baking experiment with the sun! They used solar energy to make s’mores to enjoy!

In 4th grade this week, we are ending our trip in Disney with the Animal Kingdom!

All week we are learning, reading, and writing about animals!

To start the week, we did a service project with Mississippi Mutts and made dog treats for the surrounding K-9 units.

In the afternoon, a local K-9 unit came and talked to our summer school about what they do for our community!

Today in 4th grade, students practiced creative writing using adjectives. They have been working with grammar all summer school!

The students had to write about a Sour Punch Bite flavor that they might get (some students got the pickle flavor)!

Students practiced teamwork and sportsmanship in group PE/Counseling class with funny relay races!

We are having so much fun in 4th grade. Math stations today!! Practicing place value and multiplication facts !

Our students are so excited to take home fruits and vegetables today! Thank you to our Food Service Department for ordering the fruits and vegetables. Thank you to Walmart in Jackson for donating the shopping bags!

2nd Grade students have been practicing their creativity and problem solving skills with STEM bins!

3rd Grade students have been participating in a program called AgMoves! They have been learning about animals, dairy products, and much more! They have done many interactive activities, including making butter and trying new foods!

Thank you to First State Community Bank for proving our students with a yummy ice cream sundae treats!

First grade students have been working on their narrative writing skills! They made lemonade and practiced writing out the steps in order by using transition words. They enjoyed making a craft and taste testing the lemonade, too!

In 4th grade students have been learning about the different continents!

These Kindergarten students are practicing their counting and number identification skills with fun learning games!

Today, we recognized three of our outstanding faculty and staff members at Orchard Drive during the district end of the year breakfast.

These 4th Graders are off to the middle school! They will be missed at ODE!

These students had sundaes with the Dunaways! This experience was won through the auction fundraiser. 

We met (and surpassed) our building goals for ELA and math as measured by iReady. As the reward for this great feat, students who met their stretch growth were put in a drawing to pie Mrs. Zirges and Mrs. Miller in their faces! Fun was had by all! See the videos in the comments!

2nd-4th graders got to break one of the art room rules and got to make a paper airplane in art class this week! We then had a paper airplane flying contest. Here are some photos of our winners and the classes flying them!

Emily and Landon earned a gift card and special lunch at American Ice Cream for reading 10 Mark Twain nominee books this year. We’re very proud of them! 👏📖
