Centro Now Offering Tap to Pay Option
Centro has rolled out a contactless fare payment system aboard its transit buses in Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga, and Oswego counties. The new Tap to Pay farebox feature provides customers with an additional option to pay for their rides. Just tap your credit/debit card, mobile device, or wearable to pay and be on your way! Customers should be aware that Tap to Pay credit card transactions will be processed once the card accumulates $10 in ride charges or every 3 days – whichever comes first. Have questions? Yesterday, Centro hosted the New York Public Transit Association's Public Transit Leadership Institute (PTLI) program class of 2024. PTLI is a year-long professional development program that provides an opportunity for future transit leaders to further develop their skills and network with other transit leaders throughout New York State. During their session participants listened to presentations from Centro staff and went on a tour of the facility!

This week, NYS Senator Rachel May and Assemblyman Al Stirpe visited Centro’s Syracuse facility to get a behind-the-scenes look at what’s involved in ensuring that our community has access to public transportation. Centro representatives thanked the Senator and Assemblyman for their continued support of public transportation. The Senator and Assemblyman were also treated to a tour of the facility and received an update on key Centro service initiatives.

Members of Centro's maintenance department recently attended a "Train the Trainer" course at Metro Bus & Rail, where they gained valuable insight on how to be effective instructors. Participants learned about and applied lesson planning basics, best practices, and successful frameworks to the transportation environment. Thank you to the International Transportation Learning Center for teaching our employees how to bring labor and management together in public transportation to build better worker training.
