Another big announcement!!! Virginia Living Magazine announced their Top of the Trades 2023 for the entire state. Kept was awarded best Interior Design for Eastern Virginia 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Another award and we are just two months into the new year! We have some amazing projects on deck and I can’t wait to share them with y’all. Stay tuned!

Celebrating another Best of Houzz Award announcement today! What an honor, as always, to be given this award year after year. This year marks by fifth year in a row! Wooohooo! 2023 is incredibly special to me as I am celebrating 10 years in business. This makes this award even more of a reflection point for me. What a ride it has been thus far! Through 2 relocations, marriage, 2 babies and many trials and adventures, this career and passion of mine has always kept me going. Thanks to my wonderful clients (many now friends!) for giving me the opportunity to do what I love while supporting my family. Here’s to another 10 years!

A total bedroom oasis! This space has a sense of calm, designed with a soothing color palette and complimented with modern and textural elements. I designed this Primary Bedroom (located in sunny Florida) 100% remotely. This remote process allows my clients to stay in control and implement my design in their own time. When you talk to me about your dream home, I take every step to make this a reality. My hourly services are the perfect way to dip your toes into the design process. One example is that this can be helpful for the person who has almost everything they need but needs help curating paint colors for their walls and trim. Here is a visual of a room color curation to sample based on my client's design style, the existing furniture, and the adjacent spaces. As many of you well know, when it comes to choosing a bold paint color you can easily get stuck with someone that looks entirely different on the wall than it did on the sample chip in the store. All of my paint color curations come with a simple guide on how to best sample paint in each room.

A pop of color often has the most successful impact when the elements surrounding it have been thoughtfully placed in order to allow your eyes to move around the space. In Interior Design this is called -rhythm-. Notice in this inspiration image how the window trim, accent chair legs, and moody dark elements tie together to create cohesion. This creates the perfect foundation for the touch of green, allowing this room to keep its tranquil energy.

With Memorial Day weekend upon us, I wanted to share some simple decor tips to help you get ready for your event.

- Table centerpieces - Add candles, bowls of fresh fruit, &/or plants to outdoor tables to create a more charming atmosphere. (Snackable centerpieces are always a go-to!) These details still matter outside. 🌿
- Batch up pre-made cocktails before the party starts & add them to pitchers with fresh fruit for a stylized moment that is both beautiful and functional. (Consider using frozen berries as ice for an extra touch of color to any water). 🍓
- Simple partyware - Think clean and minimal for plates, cups, and utensils to allow yourself to add color and pattern elsewhere without the decor feeling too 'busy'. ✨
- Outdoor lighting- Whether it's chic citronella candles or string lights, a warm glow always sets the perfect tone as the sun goes down. 🕯
& don’t forget to create a playlist full of festive songs that will keep the party going. 🎶

Another before and after for you 😍 Each piece in this multifunctional room was thoughtfully sourced to create a meditative and comfortable environment that flows functionally and aesthetically. Natural textiles and pops of color were distributed throughout to form balance and cohesion. It was crucial that these colors felt natural with the existing dining set - as the family wanted to keep this foundational piece. We were able to reupholster the cushions in order to match the fabrics effortlessly with the adjacent sofa and accent pillows. I am excited to share this 100% remote design transformation. Dining rooms are all about function - so keeping things minimal and clean is paramount. The area rugs here define this space and pull texture and existing colors down, grounding the furniture. The sheer drapes filter the light to a soft glow, illuminating the room and making it feel larger. While the simplistic chandelier priorities both functionality and style.
