Crime Stoppers Merritt & Nicola Valley
Crime Stoppers is non-profit / charity, not attached to the RCMP, who works in association with the public, the media and police to help solve crimes.
Crime Stoppers or Crimestoppers is a program, separate from the emergency telephone number system or other standard methods of contacting police, that allows a member of the community to provide anonymous information about criminal activity.
Join us in the Community Policing Office boardroom, at 2026 Granite Ave, for our Society AGM in one month. We will be discussing our past year and exploring new opportunities for 2025. Guests are welcome.
Do you have information or video? You can contact the BC Highway Patrol with details. If you want to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers.
Do you know how to protect yourself online? The Canadian Anti-fraud Centre has a lot of great information you can use.
As part of Financial Literacy Month, it’s important to talk about one of the biggest threats to your financial health: fraud. Fraud can have devastating consequences for individuals and families across the country. The best way to protect yourself and others is to stay informed, be vigilant and share knowledge about the tactics fraudsters use. Please feel free to use and disseminate these bulletins throughout your network.
Being aware of your surroundings can make a difference. Being able to provide a witness description is also important if you must call for assistance. How are your skills?
It's crime prevention week and today we are talking about becoming a better witness. Have you ever had to call the police to report a crime? Were you able to provide the details needed? Thinking about this ahead of time can really help if you are ever faced with this situation.
Let's talk about a vehicle description, for example. If you are calling the police, any of the following information could make a difference. Year, make, model, colour, license plate number, number of occupants, body damage, bumper stickers, or direction of travel. You may not have all this information, but we encourage you to practice recognizing these details now in case you have to recall them in an emergency.

File # 2024-1996
The RCMP is pleased to advise the public that the 6-year-old girl who has been missing since September 19, has been located.
On September 22, 2024, just after 6:00 p.m., the girl who was reported missing in Southside, was located safe. She was found in a forested area previously searched between her residence and the band office, leaving searchers to believe she was likely moving around during the time she was missing.
This is the outcome that we all hoped for, she was missing for multiple days, but everyone searching remained dedicated to bringing her home safely says Burns Lake RCMP Detachment Commander, S/Sgt. Joshua Smith. We are thankful for the support of all our partner agencies and volunteers that worked day and night to achieve this outcome."
