We have raised Polypays for about 30 years and other sheep before that. When we started we bought registered ewe lambs from Goldenwest Polypays out by Glacier. Our rams we purchased at the Sheep Experiment Station in Idaho. They have lots of USSES in their pedigree. Our sheep are raised mostly on grass. Our mature ewes lamb at around 240%, our ewe lambs at 145+%. Our wool has been in the lower 60’s. We raise registered rams and ewes. Our ram lambs are out on grass with their mothers until the middle of July. They are about 41/2 months old and do not dare to leave them any longer (they will breed at this age). We wean the rest of the lambs around the first of September and turn them out on harvested fields until we decide to sell lambs or the weather allows. Polypays are a very versatile sheep and have great dispositions. Our ewes weigh around 170+ lbs. Our rams 235+lbs. Our sheep do not get alfalfa or corn. We have grass and use barley for grain.
